What is the best path to take in becoming more involved in the medical field? |
I have a BA in Psych but I'm looking to become involved in the medical field. I would like to go into either Nursing (an Accelerated BSN Program) or a possibly a PA program. I've begun to retake some of the prerequistes. What else can I do to expand my horizons? Any advice from anyone whose made a similiar career change? Volunteer at your local hospital. This gives you several advantages. First, you get to see medicine in the real world. Though not as real as doing the job it will give you perspective and help you to decide where and if you want to work in medicine. Second, use this as an opportunity to talk to people in the field or fields you are considering. Make sure to do this at the appropriate time, but overall you'll find people very helpful in giving advice once you tell them you are interested in the field. Finally, you can use this as an opportunity to network which can get you hired once you graduate. |
