A question to women who have had an IUD or Doctors and Nurses?

4 days ago I had an IUD placed. For the first couple of days I was cramping so bad I did not want to have sex with my husband. When we finally did begin having sex again there was a burning sensation, it became so bad I had to make him stop. At that time I figured maybe it was just due to the clamps they use to stabilize the uterus. However it has continued to happen the next couple times we tried. I am a fairly large woman and I can not reach my fingers far enough into feel the strings so my doc taught my husband how to do it. I had him feel for them last night and he could not feel them but in one spot on my skin it felt like he was pushing against something and when he would touch it I would get the same sensation that I have when we try sex except much worse. Has any one else had this experience? If so what caused it and is it serious enough to make a doctors appointment before my follow up date?

I've had an IUD and this doesn't sound right at all. I would call the doctor and make an appointment right away. There could be something wrong. It could have shifted inside you. You say you are a big woman, so that's a real possibility. If you have a burning sensation after four days, it may have accidentally pricked you inside, and you may be starting to have an infection. Call the doctor! If the doctor has a sympathetic nurse you can talk to on the phone, explain the problem and see whether or not you should wait a while longer, or go right in for a checkup!

you better have a health checkup. some time the IUD migth cause irritation and wount inside. have a health checkup

Please see a dr. she is the best judge soon . Certainly it does not
be with all women who went thru IUD. IF that were the case
doctors will not go in for it.

I would go and see a doctor like yesterday.
I had and IUD and felt the same thing.I went to the doctor and he took it out. Then a few weeks on I began to bleed every afternoon at the same time. One afternoon I had my slippers on and the blood flow was so much that it filled my slippers and I was in panic mode. I became extremely anaemic and had to go to hospital and have a curette. I would never ever have one of those again. I now have my tubes clipped.
