Any Nurses Around? "Female" problem, can you help?

I think I have a yeast infection ( had white discharge few days back, then some pain down there, now some burning/pain when I urniate.) I also noticed some slight redness/swelling in lip area. I have had a UTI before, so how do I know which thing this is? A UTI or a yeast infection? My doc is not in until Monday.

UTI doesn't give you white discharge. It makes your urinations painful/burning. But it has nothing to do with your vagina - the infection is in the bladder.
Now, if you have white discharge you most likely have an yeast. Sometimes we have yeast and UTI at the same time, because one may cause another. And yeast can also cause painful urinations (especially if you scratch down there because of yeast). So, I would start treating yeast for now with over-the-counter ointment (Miconazole) and see if you still have painful urinations. In this case, you might also need antibiotics to treat your UTI. For now, take Cystex for your painful urinations. It will fight bacteria and relieve pain (also over-the-counter).

UTI.... a yeast infection would itch and give off an unpleasant odor....until monday, try drinking some cranberry juice

Does it itch like crazy? Yeast infections usually do. You can buy Monistat over the counter if it is yeast but you need to be diagnosed by a doctor. It is important to get treated properly. Good luck!

sounds like an UTI. drink plenty of fluid including cranberry juice. go to your local chemist and ask for cystopurin this will help relieve the symptoms and is available over the counter. cranberry suppplements are available and one should be taken one a day tp prevent these. but the main thing is to drink plenty of fluid at least 2 litres a day

since it bothers u while u pee its prbly a UTI. yeast only affects those creases and ur V

when i had a uti the meds they gave me caused a yeast infection. so if you'd had the uti recently, the meds might have caused this..
like someone said already, monostat.
