Feels like i am stuck in a rut? |
I know as a nurse i should be able to help myself with this but to be honest I not sure what to do (we are often the worse for this!) Thank you for the ideas and advise. I have to stay in nursing at the moment as am on good money and need to remain on good money at the moment. I would like to leave nursing or change direction of nursing but cannot at mo due to finances. I truly Do Empathise with you....try taking a few weeks off or try deliberately alterring your lifestyle....self help like meditation may also be very useful...but....do not give up...our nurses are the backbone of our country in my opinion and without people like you to help us we are all stuck up that famous creek without a paddle....I wish you all the success you deserve and even though you know it is hard at the moment...it will get better The only solution is to somehow break the cycle. Sorry to hear this hun. There is nothing stopping you going to the doctor and asking him / her to sign you off for a while. If you explain the situation to them, they will put something else on your sicknote, like " a virus" or something more open like that. I really do think you need a time out, it does everyone good once in a while. Get signed off, spend a bit of time on your own, chill out and try and get your stress levels down. Good luck hun! there is always a way out, this is just a phase, do not blame youself, things will improve. you're a nurse, so you do good for others, that will be repaid, one day you will look back and laugh at this time. you are obviously a caring person, why not try some kind of charity work. puts it all in perspective! Do yourself and everyone else a favour and have a holiday, you sound like you need one, maybe after the holiday everything will look a bit rosier, if not, then seek medical help, as a nurse you should know better, surely you have friends that can advise you. You are suffering from depression make no mistake about that, and i would suggest you see your doctor for advice, do you also have a close friend who you can confide in? Perhaps look inside yourself and see whether it's not burn out more you need a complete change of direction. Nursing is very stressful and its' probable you have given as much to it as your mind and body can stand. Talk with your GP as a first stop it may require medication or maybe not but that's where you should start. They should be completely sympathetic and may even advise a visit to see a trained professional, like a counsellor. You are not a pain to anyone just going through a crises and need someone to put you in the right direction. If you see someone private like a hypnotherapist it doesnt have to go on your cv and therefore wouldnt hinder your chances to get another job. Hypnotherapy is very very successfull for depression, once your depression is treated you may feel different altogether. Have a look on the website below for more information. Good Luck |
