80% effaced and 2cm dialated, 6 days overdue?? help!?

I am 6 days overdue w/baby number one. He was supposed to be born on the 29th of september. I lost my mucus plug three weeks ago.

yesterday at 5am I started to bleed (spotting)

at 2pm I went to the hospital to get it checked out and they said that I am 80% effaced and 2cm dialated and the nurse said I was bleeding bc my cervix was changing. She said it was almost completely thinned out.

They sent me home even though I was getting mild contractions. Now it's 12:24am and I am getting contractions every ten minutes plus still spotting/bleeding but it's a bit more than it was before.

It also feels like there is a twinge of pressure right behind my vaginal opening. When I lay down it feels like it's sorta burning. It is NOT a urinary infection (already got checked for that)

So my question is, how long do you think it will take until I go into full blown labor? I tried walking earlier, but it hurt so I had to stop.

- I can't have sex. It hurts waaaay too much to do that. Last time me and my hubby tried about a week ago it left me in so much pain that it made me cry for an hour and a half.

- It's a boy. I've been holding off on getting induced (doc wanted me to get induced two weeks ago) bc I want him to come out on his own (hopefully he does.)

I think you should go ahead and go back in according to what I was told they can release you if you aren't approximately 3 cm or more. However if you are feeling pressure and your bleeding has increased I imagine you are currently dialating even more.So forget what that nurse told you and go back to the hospital they can't turn you away if you're even more dialated than earlier...

Good Luck Hun,
M.G

please go back to the hospital, they shouldn't have sent you home to begin with.

have sex. it worked for me...my water broke 5 hours later. the nurse told me it works because the semen thins out the cervix causing the water to break.

Wait until contractions are 5 minutes apart then get to the hospital..If your far away from the hospital I would go now..Make sure to have your bag packed and ready to go..It sounds like the baby will be here fairly shortly ..Is it a boy or girl??

Hey! I remember you! :)
From what you are saying .. you're going to be meeting your baby VERY soon!!!
contractions are 10 minutes apart?? get those bags packed!!!
you can be in full-blown labor within the hour!!!
once they hit 5 minutes apart .. get to the hospital!!!!!
good luck! God bless!

I bet you're getting close and should maybe think about heading back to the hospital. I cant believe they sent you home w/ bleeding going on, but if they ruled out everything else I guess it could be the changing cervix. Good luck and congrats, you'll have a baby soon!

Really it sounds like you are in the first stage of labor. Tonight get as much sleep as you can. When you wake up, or if you cant sleep or if its already morning where you are at, start walking. Walk as much as you can, it will speed things up and help the baby to get into the right position and for your cervix to become more dilated. Get your bag ready and do any final things around the house that need to be done before you have the baby. It sounds like you will be giving birth within the next 24 hours, but probably even less. The pain when you are walking is probably from pressure from the babies head. That pain is actually very good pain, and the more you work with it now, the easier your labor will be, as the baby will be closer to the birth canal and it will take less contractions to get the job done. God bless you and your baby on the way!

i think you are in full blown labpour but the worst bit is the last half an hour just go to the hospital at day light if your contractions don't go to 5 mins apart before thenbut make sure you go when they are 5 mins apart because baby will be coming i wish you all the luck in the world and i pray that you and everyone in the world having a baby tonight have a safe delivery

it sounds like the same kind of problems I had with both my sons.walking will help but it hurt me to.ask your doctor and tell him your tired and if it would be ok to break your water tell him you are ready and want to have the baby.the 2nd child I had i did this twice, I had a great doctor the 2nd time and he said lets break your water and let me tell you I was ready and it was easer for me.then the first time.good luck!

If you put a 1-2 table spoons of Castor oil in a glass of juice,( preferably orange juice) you'll be in full blown labor in no time.

Wow. It sounds to me like you are already in early labor. Are your contractions regularly every 10 minutes? If you're already 80% effaced, I would say that it is about to happen. Why not go ahead and have your doctor admit you into the hospital and start you on Pitocin to speed thigns along? MOst doctors don't have a problem with doing this. I know you have to be uncomfortable, too. Good luck :)

i would say buy the end of the day - but its 8am where i am! Anyway, you dont have to have sex just get th semen inside you - leave it to your imagination, it will work ! if your bleeding gets anymore or the contractions closer together go to the hospital

i am no expert on labour lol but it is hard to say when the proper thing will start. but my guess is that it will be in a few days. if not, they might decide to induce you to bring it on.

i am 3 days overdue & i am only about 2 cm dialated & i havent lost my mucus plug. i hate the waiting part, but if i havent gone into labour by tuesday im going to be induced.
