Anything you'd like to complain about??

I drove two hours to Memphis today to visit my mother in the hospital (She's there due to a complication from a surgery she had and has been there since November 10th). When I walked into her room, I could smell urine so bad my eyes burned and her stomach pump machine was beeping indicating something was wrong with it-turns out it was a leak. She was crying and said her pump had been beeping for over an hour. I called for a nurse and they said they'd be right there. They never came so I started checking the screen on the pump for a mute button becuase my mother had a headache. The nurse then comes in and starts complaining that I was touching the pump. I told her someone had to my mother couldn't keep listening to it beep. She and I got into it and she said she was gonna get her supervisor. I said "Yes, please do I want to know why mother is marinating in her own urine."
Needless to say, arrangements are being made for my mother to leave that hospital at the earliest possible date.

i am so so sorry to hear about that. your mom does not deserve this. if i were you, i would look into seeing what i could do about suing them for this. this is neglect. i would not tolerate this. i hope she is getting better. i am assuming that is your daughter on your avatar. i think she is so cute!. i really don't have anything to complain about but i understand why you would and rightfully so. i hope everything works out for you. good luck in the future.

My neck itches.

Oh that doesn't sound good! Hope you get your mother out of there and somewhere better soon.

My Comcast remote is acting crazy. I have to get up from the couch and go to the tv to change the volume.

It's at least 10 ft away. This **** is ridiculous.

I have money burning a hole in my pocket and I have no where to go! That sucks!

That just beat my complaining..so I won't complain..I hope your mom gets better..tell her that a complete stranger cares and wishes the best for her =]

I'm sorry to hear about your experience. I hope your mom gets better.

I hear you. I had similar experiences when my mother was in the hospital with cancer. I'm sorry you and your mom had to go through that.

Wow. Nothing I have compares to that. I did throw some flowers at some "on break" nurses (they'd been on break for about 45 minutes by then, sitting around the call desk ignoring her light and several others) while my mother was in the hospital - she was dying- but that was no reason to ignore her. That vase splattered all over the wall, the desktop, and six *very* attentive nurses. And maman got turned over. Nice to meet another active participant in their parents care, lady. Your way wasn't as messy, I have to admit!

I don't gots enuff rocks ta smoke!!!!!!!!!!!

someone at school paid off a bet with a pacsun card and well... i hate almost everything at PAC sun! its poser sheik!

Damn, sorry to hear about your mother! I have complaints, but now they seem nothing compared to your day :(

yea actually there is something i would like 2 complain about....but it's kinda long so i'll try 2 shorten it...lets just say my bf and i aren't speaking 2 each other because of something my so-called "best friend" did....and i'm really sorry 2 hear about your mom...

haha, read the blog

It's so sad that our hospitals are this way, nurses are understaffed horribly, and given way too many patients to look after. When a loved one is in the hospital, you should feel confident and comforted that they are being well cared for, I am happy you stood your ground, I hope you get her into a better place...

It is definately past time for your mom to go to a new hospital. I would be kicking up a heck of a fuss, too. Loudly. When my mom was in the hospital I'd go nurse hunting after waiting patiently for about 15 minutes. They got so tired of me they were happy to see my mom leave. But they just were so understaffed that they couldn't handle all the patients. Not that I cared. Nor do I care now. They left my mom in pain after surgery for 45 minutes, then didn't believe me or her that the morphine thingee was not working. Let me tell you, I raised a fuss. And that was just the first fuss. They did finally get to responding to my requests within a decent amount of time, but they'd just ignore my mom. I got so tired of "Thank god you're here, go tell them..." Whenever I got back from seeing to her pets.

After reading the conditions your mom was in, I have no complaints. I feel for her and you too.
