Allergic reaction? |
my mom brought home a bag of gloves out of their packages and said we could use em for cleaning and stuff. (she's an operating room nurse and said they were sterile.) so i put em on, and on one hand, it's burning like crazy sporadically, so i ignore it, cuz it wasnt in my other hand too. thought it was no big deal. that was like at least 3 weeks ago, and i still have the allergic reaction or whatever it is on my hand. it doesnt really look like a rash. it's red like it was burned. it covers all of the right side of my right hand. the skin looks reeeally dry. if im washing my hands with cold or hot water, it flares up and burns but the pain subsides in a few hours. i tried putting ointments and stuff on it, but it only made it more red and painful and didnt start healing at all. i told my mom, but she doesnt care. it should heal by itself by now because it's been so long. what do i do and what is this?? sounds like exima (sp?). the glove may have irritated that spot on your hand to initiate it. If it was only an allergic reaction to the (latex is common) glove, it would have improved rapidly. i get hives and alergic reactions all of the time. u may need to go to the doc and get a steroid presciption to get rid of the swelling. the best thing for relief is get some oatmeal bath packets and run tepid water and soak for about a half an hour. you are allergic to latex...get an antihistamine shot to get it back to normal.... you could be allergic to latex, go get it checked out. I would use castile soap, it has no perfume or harsh ingredients in it, or a soap that you buy at walgreens called Pear. It is good for the hands, use a natural moiserizer and mom needs to get you to see a doctor. it may or may not have been the gloves, but if your hands cause you pain, then a doctor's office call is necessary. Try using olive oil as a moisterizer after washing, this should not burn your hands, it is wonderful for dry skin too. I worked outside in harsh winters and my hands cracked and had splits in them and ths helped, it was hard after washing the hands, I found that I was using too much force with the towel to dry them. I hope you are not doing the same thing. Good Luck. Hope the pain subsides soon. I had a hard time seeping it hurt so bad. if the gloves where latex you probably are allergic to it you should probably see a doctor |
