About scabies or disease?

my friend works at a nursing home . ( laundry department ) .
does an employee has the right to know who has scabies or some kind of infectious diesease so they can use gloves or at least be careful . he ws picking up the dirty laundry and the clothes was all mixed up in the same can . patients that had scabies and other stuff . my friends arms starting burning and stinging . he uses gloves ( mandatory ) but it still got on his skin . should an employer tell their employee's what patient has what for precaution ?

certain clothes with patients that have something are out in red bags and are sepatated from regular clothes . this clothes of those patience were mixed buy the employees that work with the patients . my friend & the other guy 's arms wee stinging after digging the clothes out of the can . i just thought i would ask and see what other response i could diffrent .

I would absolutely think they should! Scabies are very contagious! My niece got them as a baby and before you knew the WHOLE family had them.

They may not necessarily tell the exact patient, but they should at least inform him if someone there has it and supply him with the necessary garments.

I don`t know in which country you live or what is the legal system there but as a doctor I can tell you that every employer in the health sector must take precautionary measures to protect themselves and their staffs from transmissible diseases.

Your friend is supposed to follow UNIVERSAL PRECAUTIONS.
It is something he SHOULD know about since he works in this type of facitlity. Scabies will not start your arms stinging and burning after having touched the clothing. There must have been something else on the clothes. If he is concerned he should seek out the Employee health nurse.
And it is AGAINST THE LAW to inform people what medical conditions people have. HIPPA ask your friend what that is!

Someone in the laundry department has no right to the health info of the patients in the nursing home. She should be using "universal precautions" which means that she treats every piece of linen as if it has AIDS, etc. on it. Scabies would not cause immediate burning and stinging. They would cause itching, but it would take a few days to start.
