When will you women learn?????


PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE stop taking or requesting advice on diet pills and fad diets? They are not good for you!!!!!

The pills do your body more harm than good, and if you starve yourself, you may lose weight, but will put it all back on again plus more because you now have a slower metabolism.

The ONLY way to lose weight effectively and healthily, and keep it off, is to eat a proper healthy diet, 3 good meals a day and ensuring you get enough carbs, protien and vitimins, minerals and antioxidants that your body needs, and only allowing for the occassional treat, and then EXCERCISING!!!!!!

This isn't rocket science. If you for arguments sake take in 2000 calories a day, but through excercise you burn off 2500, then YOU WILL LOSE WEIGHT!!!!!!!

If any women out there want advice on healthy living/eating and excercise, then please leave a positive message and ask me, and I will add to this.

And just so you know, I am a student Nurse with a history in diet and fitness.

Thanks for the positive comment mr Dan. 6 -8 small meals a day is still an excellent way to eat healthy but it is no more or less beneficial than 3 meals a day as long as the right nutrients are taken in. It is all down to personality. Some people work better with one over the other and vice versa.

Women will never learn, nor will the men. People who want quickfix solutions to problems are facing a long and potentially dangerous road ahead. Getting in shape, losing weight, etc...is a lifestyle commitment. You must commit to changing your eating habits by eating nutritious, whole foods and exercise sensibly and you must do these things consistently and for life.

That way, you will stay in shape, get in shape and be healthy. Yo-yo dieting, pills and the like inevitably fail and you will crash and burn, often retaining the weight you took off and even, on occasion gaining more.

I hate the words diet and skinny..both shouyld be banned.

it's not the pills themselves that are bad. it's the abuse of any diet pill. and its important to know, before taking ANY diet pill, that it will only help you get to your goal, but you have to make drastic diet and exercise changes that should last a lifetime to keep the weight off. i've been taking lipo-6 for almost a month now. i'm not addicted to it, and i full plan to stop takin it once i've hit my target weight. i changed my diet and am an all-around healthier person.

anyways, the world needs more people like you. Unfortunately, not many people will see this. Questions will still be asked about diet pills.

You are so right. I would never waste the money on such items. The people who purchase these products are only lining the pockets of the manufacturer who don't give a toss whether a person loses weight or not. Eat healthily and take exercise is what I do.

Eat only when hungry and not more than thrice a day. Nothing other than water in between. Include plenty of uncooked vegetables and fruits in each meal, preferably 50%. Chew each morsel at least 32 times to activate ur body to generate signals of hunger/fullness. Obey these signals.

Take light exercises and brisk walks regularly preferably twice a day.

U will achieve what u have not even dreamt and that too in a reasonable time. Do not be in a hurry.

whoa buddy! speaking for women... i've trained for several years and have a pretty good knowledge base... i agree with all you said, but please... please... do not take it out on all WOMEN... because i have seen just as many men comming in thinking that if they ate all protien they'd look like arnold! it's not just the ladies that are confused... put it out there to 'em all! ... also consider what you said about the calories.. if you take in more than you burn.. you gain. if you take in less than you burn.. you lose... that's correct.. so screw the three meal a day thing, why torture yourself! spread it out more! (not to mention the research supporting increase in metabolism when you do eat smaller frequent meals.)

Yea I already knew all that. Some women just get desperate and don't want to do the work to loose weight. They want a magic pill, and there is no such thing. You have to be willing to work at it. For all the women that read this and want real weight loss help that will last go to:

So right... Its a pain to look and see someone who's waited 2days before their wedding to stop eating chocolate for breakfast and want a quick fix..

I have two perspectives.. Myself, I lost 3 stone, over an initial preriod of changing my whole lifestyle and then keeping it off, by exercising and eating well...

My best friend, killed herself 5 years ago after being anorexic for 4 years... She was beautiful and in the pursuit of skinniness died.

it isn't only women I had a male friend who died from taking pills like this his doctor wouldn't give him any so he got animal ones.

This is not a discussion site it is a Q and A site.

#1: You have to understand that today's mass media has made it acceptable to be skinny and then not so acceptable to be overweight. With so many media sources pouring in venting these ideas and unhealthy lifestyles to girls growing up now it's hard to imagine why there aren't more girls resorting to things like extreme diets and pills. With the need to be in and keep up with the pack it's almost a necessity of modern society for the popular people of any group to not be overweight.

#2: Some people will try to make their own diets to try and develop new ones but in the end they're really just BS. A perfect example: the single food crash diets. Some people out there know that they need to diet but don't want to do it under the normal contraints so they resort to other methods like developing their own diets. These diets overload the body with certain nutrients and even though the food may taste good it will actually do more harm than good.

#3: If you're a nurse with histroy in diet and fitness you should know that if a person were to sit in bed and not do anything at all with little or no outside stimuli that the heart would still use about 700-800 calories per day. With that in mind the body needs more calories for the heart when working out and exercising and calories are also needed to repair damaged tissue inside of the muscles and other tissues within the human body which likely account for around another good hundred calories and then of course there is the energy you burn off. This diet we call the EBD Diet (The Eat and Burn Diet) and a person on this diet may as well be anorexic. Burning off 2,500 calories through exercise while consuming only 2,000 is putting the body at huge risk of more problems considering the need of calories besides exercising. If you were to burn off 2,500 calories through exercise you'd likely need a total of about 3,500 calories for optimal results.

i have noticed it's usually 'girls' more than women who are posting these weight loss questions, often as young as 11. its scary.

And when will you stop making patronising, sweeping statements about women. Why is your advice only offered to women? You are a student and therefore not qualified to give advice of this nature.
