What do diabetic ulcers on the feet look like? |
I have a mild case of diabetes. I have been getting sores on my feet from itching and they have a hard time healing. I showed my doc's nurse and she said it didn't look like diabetic ulcers and to try a hydrocortizone on them. If it doesn't get better to call them back. Should I be concerned. They burn and itch and keep me up at night. Thanks for any input. Be ware of those ulcers--even if they don't look like diabetic ulcers, they still could be diabetic ulcers. Maybe it's athletes foot? IDK! Do what the Dr. says and hopefully all will be well. It could just be that it's summer and you don't cover up your feet as much so they are kind of dry?! Sorry I can't be of more help. Good luck! Here are some pics, and I think all have articles. They are actual photos and are somewhat graphic, so viewer beware. Hope this helps! Just my opinion, but I would never use any corticosteroid on a foot sore of a diabetic. You don't want to depress the immune system in any way even with a weak corticosteroid like 1%hydrocortizone. DM patients have a horrible time with yeast infections. I would try athlete's foot creme on it. Any kind will work or even rubbing alcohol if you can stand the burning. Sometimes they even have yeast growing on the body in the form of jock itch or under the arms, breasts and in the naval. It is just a fungus, so you need a fungicide. |
