Acrylic nails...?

I have a friend (that has an aunt that is a nurse, which told her) that told me about a patient that got acrylic nails and is now dying because they got in her body and is harding her organs! I looked online and didn't find anything like this... only that acrylic nails can cause fungus and discoloration and burn, but nothing life threating... I really would like to know if this is possible or if my friend is fibbing, b/c I love to get my nails done, but I am very careful!

Im pretty sure that your friend's aunt was telling her tales. Let us think for a moment...how would nails get physically to her organs? If you ate one, honestly you could get a tummyache, but you would pass it.

Well Ive been getting my nails done with acrylic since I was 13 (I'm 29) and never has anything more than a little fungus - and you only get that when the nail lifts and lets in pockets of water.

The only thing I can think of that would explain the girl dying is an allergy to a chemical that was used on her nails or a less than sanitary salon that exposed her to something. Paula Abdul got some sort of exposure to something at a nail salon that had her arm in a sling. I know its possible to get sick, but rare. Just be careful of the salon you choose.
