Any suggestions on how to get in shape post-baby?

Trying to lose that baby weight. I walk 30 minutes every night and I try to do pilates. But I've hit a platuea. I'm nursing and I know that burns calories and I try really hard to watch what I eat. How can I pump it up to lose those 30 more lbs? I've already lost 20.

Jenny McArthy says use Weight Watchers. I lost 40 pounds on it so I think it works.

Be careful not to lose too much weight, you still need a little bit of excess fat to produce milk, and you have to eat an additional 500 calories while nursing. Take it slow, don't be too in a hurry to lose the weight. Seems like you are on the right track though.

try to walk twice a day.
when you walk try to jog for a min or so every 5 min.

walk 6 min jog 2 min walk 6 min jog 2 min...

jogging might not be an option if you are taking baby with you unless you want to buy a jogging stroller.

get a jump rope and jump for 10 min every day

when you eat try to eat your meal in stages...eat veggies first(your meal should be half veggies - steamed or raw no sauces) then your starch (pasta, bread,potatos..)then your protein and finish with lots of fruit. try to cut your meal to 1/2 of what you would normally eat and of course drink tons of water before during and after any meal.
eat slowly so your body has time to realize when its satisfied

no soda or too much juice (natural sugars lots of calories)

Good for you! It sounds like you are on the right track. Be sure when you eat that you eat nutrient dense foods (whole grains, fruits, veggies, egg whites, and low fat LOW SUGAR dairy) in order to get the nutrients that you need to breastfeed, stay full, and fuel your workout. After my daughter was born I started doing pilates dvds and walking/ jogging with her in the stroller. Although I only gained 40 lbs when I was pregant, I was in better shape than before by the time she was 6 months old! To burn extra calories I suggest amping up your cardio. Try to walk an extra 5 or 10 minutes every night. Or pop your baby in the stoller in the morning and go out for a bonus walk twice a week and explore nature! Stick with the pilates, it really helped me get my waist back and then some! If you are a beginner you may want to try "Crunch Pick Your Spot Pilates". They have 3 10 minute workouts for your belly, butt and thighs that are really effective. Plus you will be building lean muscle and muscle burns calories just by being there. If you work hard you will look better and feel better. Good luck!!
