Can anyone else understand that i would rather be happy making less money at a job that i enjoy?

as opposed to a higher paying job that i am miserable at. I am a nurse and i am burnt out....im sick of doctors crap and i needed a break...i have stayed home with kids 2 yrs now and ready to start working again....id rather get a job like a store or a tanning bed,,,,something fun...i dont care if its only 7-8 dollars an hour....i dont want to go back to a job with so much responsibility and tension. people say that i should go back to nursing but afeter 10 yrs id ratherjust be happy...opinions?

I can honestly say I know exactly what your talking about. Stress can wreak havoc on you physically and mentally and the worse thing is you know your going to hit it day in and day out everyday at work, so whats the alternative? If you truly feel comfortable making less money and can still meet your financial needs or wants, then I say go for it. Wouldn't it be nice to actually look forward going to work as it does going home and seeing your kids? I'm 29 and have really struggled with this dilemma for a long time and I think I'm finally starting to see what life is all about. Whether it be rich or poor or hopefully somewhere in the middle, I'm going to be happy. I hope this gives you some answers or illuminates other options that you have been looking into. Hope all goes well for you.

I'm completely with you. Being happy is so much better than making a little more money.

yeah thats what i would do i wouldnt want to be stressed like everyday.

If you have the option to go for a job with less money that you are happy with then do it. Most of us don't have the luxury of having a choice like that. I'd like to have a less stress full job too, but with rent and other bills that just isn't something I am able to do.

Yay for high paying stress full jobs!

Do what makes you happy. I make less than 1/2 of what I was making pre-children and am happier now with less stress and more flexibility than before. Money isn't everything.

I totally agree with you! If you are working and you are happy thats way better then the paycheck that just made u mad everyday!!

do what makes you happy. I don't get paid alot but I enjoy every minute at my job. It is sometimes stressful but when it comes down to it..you have to enjoy getting out of bed for your job.
