Old injuries?

ok, so I injuried my left ankle in 3rd grade I am 19 now, and it was at camp and we were walking backwards carring someone and we fell and my ankle twisted. I did not go to the nurse but it hurt really bad, to this day I have pain when I run or walk alot. it also tends to roll alot should go to the doctor? (with my old doctor he just told me to do strenghing exercises and that did not work) do you think I will need to see another docter or just live with it?

As we are growing (age 9-18), we need 1300mg/day of calcium & 200IU/day of vitamin D to absorb the calcium to develop proper bone mass

It sounds like u never got to ur peak bone density
As we age, we will lose bone mass which will make us more prone/ susceptible to injuries
Calcium & vit D intake recommended by Health Canada for ages 19-50 are as follows:
Calcium 1000mg/day
Vit D 200IU/day

age 51-70:
Calcium 1200mg/day
Vit D 400IU/day

age 71+
Calcium 1200mg/day
Vit D 600IU/day

I would continue ur strenghtening exercises since it takes many many months-yrs to build up even w/ adequate nutrition
The ankle is very important, it holds up our weight & a lot of pressure is exerted onto it, w/o it a lot of daily activities would become impossible
But also, w/ this constant stress, it makes it very difficult for it to heal quickly so u must be patient

If it makes u feel better, another doctor may give u another opinion on different exercises, or perhaps reword the situation in a manner that you will better understand ur progress which is also very helpful since u cannot see ur ankle bone directly and cannot guage ur level of improvement visually

Yes, you need to go to an orthopedist. It sounds as though your ankle never healed properly.
