To all of you army medics please?

I am considering joining the national guard as a medic. I know BCT is 9 weeks long. I was wondering how long and where is AIT to become a medic. Also, do you go straight from your last day of boot camp into your first day of AIT, or is there a little time to go home? Do they try and have your BCT and AIT at the same place to have you go straight through? Also, after AIT, do they just send you home and you lead your civilian life with your one weekend a month/2 weeks per yr duties unless you get deployed?

What is it like being a medic in the national guard?

If any of you are nurses in your civilian lives, is it hard to find a job because of employers not wanting to risk you having to take time off for the military?

I would appreciate this so much! I know it is a lot to ask, but I have a lot of questions.

100 points to the best answer!! : )

hey iam a active duty medic in the army. ait for a medic is in fort sam houston, in san antonio tx. you go straight from basic training to ait you may have to wait a couple of days until ait class starts. they definitley do not let you go home inbetween. basic and medic ait are not at the same place. fort sam houston doesnt have basic training. being a female you will probably go to basic in fort leavingworth kansas. after ait they will send you home but you probably have to report to you national guard bases within a certain amount of days. one more thing dont let the recruiter tell you are getting any kind of nursing certifcation. as a medic you will be an emt-b(emergency medicial tech- basic) which is nationaly certified. if you have anymore questions email me richfletcher75@yahoo.com. good luck
