Michael Vick gets jail & tons of negative media attention for dog fighting, killing dogs, but 7 boot camp?

workers and a nurse are acquitted by an all-white jury again as usual, for murdering a 14-year old Black boy at boot camp dousing him with ammonia caplets, suffocating him so he couldn't breathe, and ultimately murdering him, but an all-white jury made sure that all the drill sergeants and nurse were acquitted.

Maybe Michael Vick needs those defense attorneys to get lucky?

What do you think God feels about this? Kill a dog, go to jail and lose your job; kill a human and you're free get-out-of-jail or no-punishment-here card-ticket is what awaits you after the bogus trial.

Oh, but wait! This was an equal opportunity killing as there were Black boot camp sergeants involved in the killing, white sergeants, even an Asian, and a white nurse?? Equal opportunity killing folks, right?

it just goes to show that to some people, the life of a dog is worth more than a nonwhite kid...i can't believe someone tried to excuse it on the basis that he was a 'juvie'...truly truly sad...

It's clear there is still some racial tension and inequity in this country, but setting up Michael Vick as a martyred saint is a bad way to frame your argument.

Edit: Maybe martyr was a bit strong, but I still think the comparison you made was flawed. These are two completely different stories. One involves humans, and one dogs. One involves a person who plead guilty without going to trial, and the other involves a trial where the defendants were found not guilty. You framed your argument in the context of Vick being guilty and these people being found innocent.

Vick deserved what he got; this 14 year old boy did not. Vick's story is one of justice; this story is one of injustice. You could have chosen a better context, as could the lawyer whom you quoted in the story. The only connection I can see is race, and that kind of thinking is part of the problem.

In one sense I'm amazed they weren't even convicted of a lesser charge. On the other hand, I'm really not. Our justice system fails in both defense and prosecution far too often.

How are these two cases related? There not right. What are you saying that Micheal Vick did not break the law? When you`re a professional athlete you have got to realize that your going to be under a microscope. That goes for everybody. Wow, you are pretty screwed up! I agree with you about the young boy in boot camp, there is serious injustice there. However, I do not view it as a racial issue. Jena 6, I think both sides of that issue are disgusting, the white kids for hanging the nooses, absolutely horrible & should not be tolerated! It opens old wounds & is one of the highest insults. Now having said that, what the 6 black kids did was worse, they took the law into their own hands & physically harmed another human. I believe the charges they were brought up on were over zealous & not fitting, but they definatly deserve a harsh punishment. Michael Vick is a pig! Harming ppl or animals is incomprehensible & should never be tolerated! Anyone that can do that to an animal is quite capable of harming humans. As if it weren't bad enough fighting dogs, to show how cool you are, he mutilated, drown, bashed & obliterated these poor animals. Gee, that's civilized. How sickening. 1- Nowhere in the article does it say it was an "all white" jury.

2- Michael Vick was guilty and should be punished.

4- I feel bad for Anderson's family, but cases like these are decided on innocent, unless there is "proof beyond reasonable doubt". While I agree that it's possible that the guards did cause the death, there is still "reasonable doubt". In my opinion, there was more proof against OJ than these guards. Injustice happens.
