Is boot camp required in order to be an army nurse in the US Army?

What is required to become a nurse in the US army?

Enlisted nursing personnel; 91W (medics) and 91WM6 (LPN's) go through the enlisted boot camp, then attend specialized training at Fort Sam Houston, TX. Boot camp is 9 weeks, then you would go through specialized training (AIT) which is 18 weeks for medics, and 58 weeks for LPN's.
For Bachelors prepared nurses (RN's with a BSN), you attend Officer Basic Course (OBC) which is about 13 weeks long, and is the officers version of boot camp. This is also located at Ft. Sam

any position in the army requires that you go through bootcamp.

you are a soldier first...trained to fight and defend your country, then you are the job you were trained for.

if your joinen the army no matter what your job title is you have to go to boot camp.it is mandatory

Yes, it is. There can never be enough training. You don't want to be caught in a war zone and not know how to operate a gun to save your own life as well as the lives of the soldiers that depend on you. Plus it's mandatory as a serviceperson.

Yes.. boot camp (they call it basic training) is required.

Yes. As a matter of fact, any job in the military requires basic training, unless you work as a hired contractor or in a civilian position. Be careful not to get a "promise" of getting the job you want, for th emilitary has the right to have you do any job they want you to do. This is not to scare you but rather make sure you are aware of the military and how the contract you sign works.

In order to join any branch of the military and get that certain job you have to have the training required to be in the military. So yes, you have to go boot camp and then do the schooling required for your certain job in the Army

Boot camp is for the marines, the army has basic training and yes, every soldier, regardless of their job title, must take the 9 week basic training course. Not too tough though, not as tough as it was years ago since they allow recruits up to 42 years old in the army these days...best of luck.

You can be a civilian nurse for the army, however you would work stateside (would not be deployed) at one of the army hospitals in your area. My sister-in-law is a nurse and looked into it. By being a civilian nurse you would not have to go through basic training.

ahh yup.

YES.

Yes it is. Enlisted are required to go through basic training. Officers have their own training. If hyou have any other questions about the Army, feel free to ask me.

yes any job in the military requires basic training

Yes, no matter what your specialty may eventually be, they train you to be a soldier first, the basics, everyone goes through them, unless you work for them on the civilian side, contracting.

You have a lot of "yes" answers here, but I think that may be misleading.

The answer depends on what kind of nurse you are talking about. A Nurses Aide or LPN (these are civilian titles, not military) are enlisted specialties and require Basic Combat Training followed by AIT.

An RN is an officer position and requires a college degree (just as if you wanted to be a civilian RN) and a modified form of Basic Training that all officers are required to attend.

A recruiter would be able to answer any questions you may have.

Contrary to all the previous answers, no.

If you commission through Army ROTC, no boot camp. I've read somewhere this applies to any other accessions routes (OCS), you should verify with your recruiter.

I believe lawyers, chaplains, doctors, fall under this no boot camp category as well.

Regardless of branch, if you go into the military, the first place is boot camp, unless you come in as an officer through ROTC from college, in which case you have already been through training.
