What type of nurse earns the highest salary?

there are so many type's of nurses, for ex..cardiac care nurse, critical care nurse, emergency room nurse, forensics nurse, genetics nurse.... the list just goes on.

A nurse anesthetist (CRNA) makes the most probably, at around $130k/year on average. To become one, you need a BSN, some experience, and then go to nurse anesthetist school for the equivalent of a graduate degree in nursing. The only higher salaries for nursing I think are for the positions where you assume more administrative duty, such as chief nursing anesthetist or chief nursing executive, or some other head of nursing. Here, see this page: http://www.studentdoc.com/nursing-jobs-s...

Actually wound care specialist nurses and legal consultant nurses make more money than nurse anesthetist because they can charge their clients up to 150/hr, so do the math. Report It

Probably a Hospice RN. They get paid for gas plus a lot more than reglar nurses.

the ones that go room to room, making sure the gas/oxygen/tank of... oxygen!!!!!!!!! they earn A LOT!!! probably, 1 million or 100 thousands, a year! $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ =)

Well, a registered nurse who is in Intensive Care can make up to almost sixty thousand a year.

Operating room nurse supervisors, The wards nurse supervisor and most other supervisors.get very good salaries. For many nurses who work for Doctors, get paid according to how much the doctor or doctors are willing to pay them.

I am an R. N. with over 30 years experience. The nurses who make the highest salary are those with the most years of experience and/or training. It does not matter if you work in a cardiac unit, or nursery or E.R..when you start out, salaries in hospital are same. If you get a master's degree and work as a nurse practitioner, you will earn more. If you have 10 years exp., of course you will make more. LPNs make very little compared to R.N.s Nurses who work in doctor's offices or nursing homes make less than those who work in hospitals. I worked in thr Intensive Care nusery for the last 20 years. I had a great deal of extra training for this speciality. My salary for my years of experience, was the same as a nurse in geriatrics or cardiology. Each area requires constant, on-going education. Hospitals do not pay more for one speciality than another. If you get a masters in administration, you can be a nurse manager over a department, and of course, earn more. Some nurses work for agencies or as travelling nurses for specialized agencies...they earn more...but they must be very experienced. Most nurses work on a general medical unit for a year or two after they graduate, then choose a special area and apply for a transfer to that area. The hospital may require a series of classes for her/him before working in a specialized area. But, it does not change the salary. Most hospitals give a yearly cost-of-living raise, and also each nurse has a VERY rigorous evaluation each year. If her eval. is excellent, she may get a merit raise also...these evaluations are very detailed and tougher every year. Hospitals in different parts of the country have widely varying salaries...some parts pay more than others...but cost of living in those areas is also higher.

i think LPN's do because they are liscensed
