Lump in breast?

Only Liscenced or In-school OB/GYN please respond.

My girlfriend. 20 y/o c/o pain x1-2days. Quarter-sized firm lump underneath areola & nipple.

Family hx: Aunt with Diagnosis breast Ca
Self hx: Had a small lump on opposing breast. Mammogram inconclusive due to dense tissue. over time, diminished to an un-noticable size.

My guess is she current has a cyst, or r/o signs of fybrocystic disease. Even tho uncommon in young women, still possible.

*** last night (2nd or 3rd night) during a shower, she squeezed it and it SQUIRTED out into the surrounding tissue. (i think she means it ruptured internally)
*** she is also just coming off the depo-shot
*** 0 para 0 gravida
1) Am i correct to assume that these instances are likely cyst. And dont need any real concern (other than future breast Ca probability)
2) Concerning the rupture: Should she see a doc or will the fluid just absorb into the tissue? infection? sepsis?

Sincerely,
Cardiac Texan Nurse

Any lump on the breast should be looked by a physician. Don't delay why take the chance, specially since there is history of carcinoma. Go to the dr.

If you really are a RN...you already know that your g/f needs to see a MD about her breast. What is the problem??? No $$$, no insurance...just too busy??? I don't get it~~and YES! sepsis is always a possibility if she has squeezed it and spread whatever it was all throughout her breast!
I will stay out of TX cardiac units if you are who is working in them.
