About 2007 Honda Accord EXL V6 extended warranty plan offered by HONDA CARE .? |
I just bought brand new, fully loaded 2007 Honda Accord EXL V6. Car comes with 3 Yr./36000 bumper to bumper and 5 Yrs/60000 powertrain factory warranty. Is it recommended to by 8 Years /120000 extended warranty called Honda Care from Manufacturer itself for $1095. Travel benifits, Road Assistant, towing, rental also include with this price for 8 years / 120000 miles. Is it worth to pay $1095 more ?? I work for Honda. Everyone at our dealership has the Honda Care on their cars, if they know they'll either be going over time or miles, even our service managers who can get the work done for next to nothing. There are a few ways to look at it. If you have a loan on the car and let's say your monthly payment is $400. if one door lock goes out today, 2007, it'll run you around $450 to replace, who knows what the cost of labor and the part will be in 7 years, but it won't be that cheap, so for this month you'd have a $400 car payment, plus a $450 repair bill. If you get the extra coverage, you can pay a little every month rather than a large chunk at repair time. We are all confident that the engine and transmissions shouldn't be the problems, but if you take a look under the hood, all those little plastic boxes are computers, they run about $700 now and the average inflation of labor and parts is 5% each year, it can pay for itself relatively quickly with 2-3 "minor" problems. Like another answer, it's piece of mind. I purchased the Honda Care package for my 2007 civic. So far I haven't needed it, but it's reassuring to know it's there in case I ever do. Plus, it was only about $20 extra a month in addition to my car payment...as one person told me, it's worth it for the peace of mind. On average, purchasing extended coverage is a waste of money! The warranty company will guarantee that you are overpaying "on average". The odd customer may need the coverage but most will never use it. If it makes you feel better, then do it. I recommend taking that $1095 and putting it in a high interest savings account. Then if anything breaks on the car after 5 years, fix it with that money and don't feel bad until the money runs out. Chances are you will not own the car in 5-8 years anyway. There are also many ways to accidentally void your extended warranty through other services that the auto company will try to sell you on. |
