All Star Starters have been announcer? Does anybody care?

So, the All Star starters have been announced.

Don't get me wrong; I would go to the All Star game, if I had free tickets. I mean, hockey players on ice, is enough to make me go, but does anybody REALLY care? I have other plans that day, and I will not be watching the competition/game, and I could care less.

Does this make me a phony hockey fan? Do you love the All Stars game? Would you feel bad about missing the game/skill competitions?

I like the skills competition and when they had the old timers game. But the game is self is dull. OK but dull. I had a great time when the Panthers hosted the All star game. That was a fun weekend. I will watch, but it doesn't overly thrill me this year for some reason.

Its better than Basketball anyways. If i had tickets, there is no way I'd pass it up. You should see Sydney Crosby play, he is really a phenom.

When they took hitting out of the all star game, the purpose of the game died. If the players don't care why should I? The best solution I've heard for the game is put a million dollars in cash in the penalty box and winner take all. Choosing the teams? Let fans in the East chose east starters and fans in the west chose west starters. Then let the starters chose the rest of their teams like on a pond and play it outdoors.

I'll tell you what, I'm loving all those winged wheels on the West. But in all honesty I haven't watched a full All-Star game in my life. I might tune in to the skill competition but other than that not interested.

Haven't watched the all-star game in 20+ years my dear. Won't be watching this year either.

Figured I would know when I looked at the NHL schedule and no one was playing.

I don't really care about the All-Star game, but if it is the only thing on that gives me a reason to kill a six-pack then I'll watch. Wait, why would I need a reason to kill a six-pack?

I think they got it right last year by putting the game midweek and not interrupting regular season weekend games. It's a shame they are back to normal this year. That does leave my Saturday open with no hockey. Sunday - if nothing else is on, I will watch.

i get more enjoyment watching the skills compatition then the game. will watch it just to piss off staff though. wonder if there will be a fight in the ceromonal frist shift with cal and det being out there. is there any bad blood toward iginla and last years play offs. wouldnt it be funny to see (though all three of det players arent known for it in any form)

Personally I think they got it right THIS YEAR. It is the weekend that the NFL is taking off between Conference Championships and the Superbowl. So people are going to be looking for something to watch as far as sports. Oh and how is it better to interrupt the weekday games over the weekend games?
Anyway back to the question asked. The All-star game can be fun to watch. It isn't really anything special but it is as simple as do you want to watch it or not. The players don't really care because they don't want to risk getting hurt for an meaningless game. To be honest I think the Skills competition is better to watch then the All-Star game. At least they are really competing in it.

It is what it is. I don't really care, because it's no big deal to me and doesn't count for anything, but I'll watch it.

I think both people who love it and get excited about it and people who are vehemently opposed to it are goofy. It's just not too exciting. On the otherhand, nobody should expect too much of it anyway. I appreciate it for being an NHL tradition though.

Now it seems like the league is using it to promote the faces of players. People seemed to love the "Roadtrip" commercial last season. If it's good for the league, I'm okay by it.

Of course I care, but I can't say I was waiting in anticipation of any kind of surprise or something.

I will watch this year, as every year, and I never miss the skills competition either!
