What doesn't the UK health care system include?

What doesn't the UK health care system include? Does is cover fertility treatments, or eye care. My family plans on moving to the UK in the future. Still trying to figure out how everything works.

I am a UK citizen. My parents moved away when I was very young, before I learned how to talk, I don't know how the NHS works and would like to know more. I was too young to learn about it when I lived there.

Im from london, everythings covered by the NHS pretty much, if you need a heart operation youll get a heart operation if you need an MRI youll get an MRI and its all free. I think it may also may cover fertility but im not sure.

And that wasn't intended to sound racist or xenophobic. I have nothing against foreigners. In fact I believe they make the UK a more interesting place. However, we are currently groaning under the weight of immigrants all taking from a system they haven't contributed to.

You wont be eligable for NHS health care untill you have lived here for five years.

There are a number of non-essential things not covered like cosmetic surgery.

A contribution is required for dental and eye care.

But I am not sure if you would qualify by just moving here, we pay for our National Health Service through National Insurance deductions from our pay, throughout our working life.

I am not sure how you would qualify for cover or how soon etc.

However we do seem to treat the world as soon as they turn up. ( see how dumb we are !!)

You have to pay for dentistry even if you do find a NHS dentist and for the drugs that doctor prescribes for you as well (normally the prescription charge is far higher than actually buying them). As for moving to the U.K. we'd rather you didn't as it is awfully full up at the moment what with Poland, Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia, Portugal and several other countries having moved in already.

Fertility treatment is given in rare cases but will only be one course. You will have to pay for your eye test and for your spectacles. If you can find an NHS dentist, you will still have to pay for your treatment but they are hard to find and a lot of people have to pay insurance and go privately. Prescriptions have to be paid for also.

Is it any wonder things are going downhill with the NHS. Come on world come here and get everything FREE. The fact that I've paid into the system all my days and now have trouble even getting a doctor's appointment - don't worry about it. Don't feel guilty. Just you work out if it's going to be worth your while moving here and taking what other people have struggled to pay for. And you think that I'm going to give you a helping hand by telling you what we're going to give you? I don't think so. Nothing personal you understand!!!!
