Universal health care question?

Does anyone know who would be eligible for the health care under the plans designed by either Hillary or Obama?

Since I am employed, and pay for my health insurance, would I be eligible for free health care under their plans?

No you will be asked to pay for yours and for those who sit on their A** and wont work also.

Nobody, anywhere, ever, gets "free Health care"...somebody has to pay for it, however much the Left would like you to believe otherwise.

thats is exactly what is at issue.
You have insurance that you pay for (probably through your employer)

They both claim to be able to deliver it a a cheaper rate. This would cause you to get out of your employer's plan and join the government's plan.

You would still pay... your portion would just go down.... Unless you claimed you couldn't afford to pay.... then the government would subsidize it even more.

Working out those details... as well as finding the money to pay for it will make it almost impossible to get through congress.

Our brother below from Austrailia has a point... but here is the problem... the US has 300 million people. Austrailia has about 20 million.
We currently have thousands of private plans... if we were starting from scratch 60 years ago it would be easy and a No brainer.... the sheer size of doing this today makes it the problem.
I'm not saying it can't be done... but getting 500 congressman and 100 senators to agree... in the midst of the current insurance and grug companies lobbying against it... this will take years and years.
By the way... the size and cost of this will make it by far the largest government program in history. Some estimate the cost at nearly 8 times our current defense budget.
We currently have medicare and medicaid for our seniors and that isn't managed very well at all... how will we handle managing EVERYONE's health care?

So where will the money come from you. If you work your taxes will go up... you will still have a co-pay and a form of deductible.
If you quit your job and stay home to watch judge judy all day... you can get it free. If you are an illegal alien... you will get it for free. If you are a drug dealer, prostitute or thief making money that is unreported.... you get it for free... but if you go to work everyday... you will pay through the nose.

There is no such thing as free. You would have to give up the plan you have now and take the state approved one for which you will pay a premium and copays plus increased or new taxes to make up the difference.

What a backwards country America is - in some aspects at least. Here in Australia we have universal health care and i could not imagine it any other way - and i work, and pay tax to help those get the same medical benefits i have. Everyone deserves to be healthy.

There is NO "free" health care under anyone's plans. Hillary has been abundantly clear you WILL buy insurance and if you don't want to pay for it, your wages will be garnished to do so. Obama has said all children will be insured, but not necessarily adults. They are not even using the word "free" themselves.
