Senator OBAMA : Has he changed his mind on HEALTH CARE?

Clinton would extend current federal programs, Medicare and the Federal Health Care Benefit plan, to all those now not covered by employer insurance or government-sponsored health plans.

Barack Obama
--------------------------------------...

Obama would create a National Plan for those who don't have access to group coverage, and would create a National Health Insurance exchange to promote greater insurance industry competition.

In comclusion, he seems to be more interested in helping insurance companies than the people.

Please point to something other than his website if I am wrong.

By having more insurance companies instead of the mega companies, it will create competition and lower costs. It would also mean that there would be a gov't reinsurance plan where insurance companies will offer plans to people who have pre-existing conditions that would be partly covered by the gov't, also contributing to lower costs.
Clintons plan is more socialized but with a hitch. It would FORCE EVERYBODY to buy health insurance. If you do not, then you will have to
a) pay a fine or
b) have it taken out of your wages automatically.
there is nothing in there which will encourage a lowering of insurance costs.

How does greater competition between insurers benefit the insurers?......competition almost without exception lowers prices and improves service.

part of the problem now is that insurers are given almost monopoly status in states

Does a bear crap in the woods?

accounti - I guess by your name you know about the economy. What kind of economy do we live in? Oh, it is capitalism. Well, under this system, companies are out to make money. Under socialism, all the money is put back into the "people". Well, let's see. You own a restaurant. You must now feed anyone who comes in because they need food to survive. This is what both Hillary's and Obama's plan entails. Could this be Socialism? It sure is not Capitalism.

What he means is competing for cheaper rates. This does not mean he is for insurance companies.

Competition will help the CONSUMER.

Prices will drop.

Wow...Obama actually HAS an idea? I thought he only yelled..."Change"...Hope"!!! Cool.

Even just reading through your question, Obama's plan sounds much better in my opinion. Greater insurance industry competition means lower pricers for consumers. Also, the federal programs are horribly inefficient. I would rather not have the government expand control over healthcare.

Please!! Hillary clinton, if elected, will not being looking out for the American people. She'll be looking out for those insurance companies who have funded her campaign!

How is promoting more competition between insurance companies helping insurance companies?....less competition would help companies...more competition would force them to lower prices to be competitive.

Where did you get "more interested in helping insurance companies than the people" from that?

The insurance industry loves Hillary's plan much more.

Yeah - I'm not sure about his plan either. I don't know if it would benefit ins companies or not, but I think Hillary outlined her plan much better. There didn't be much substance to what he was saying and it did sound like there would be people left out of his plan, which means it wouldn't be nearly as effective as Hillary's plan.

Also - he keeps saying "making insurance available" to low income folks. Well, it's "available" now - they just can't afford it. I doubt a half-defined plan will change that. Many of the poor are scratching around to put food on the table. His plan won't change that.

Insurance companies, doctors and drug companies are out for a profit. If they dont get their way they combine forces. The insurances companies will be not be forced to go lower. They will force the doctors to take less for services. The doctors will cut out those fancy machines that save lives. The taxpayers will be forced to work for less pay, but not to worry the gov't will raise the minimum wage and the small mom and pop businesses will let you go. They will close or they will do it themselves working 70 hours a week just to pay the higher taxes.
