I signed to be my sister's Family Care Plan but can't do it now. Am I still legally bound?

There is no way to make it work anymore and she doesn't have anybody else. What do I do? Will she get into trouble? Will I? I don't want to go to jail or have huge fines to pay!

To clarify, I have told her, and we are both worried and scared. She is not due to deploy but was supposed to go to some training in another month or two.

She will have to have a FCP or get out of the military. Can you help her find another plan.

no you wont get in huge trouble or fines...however you need to let her know...she however can get in trouble and discharged if she cant fine someone

No your not, you may require to explain why. There could be extenuating circumstances why you cant. I don't know what they are.
However you will require to find someone with some experience or another relative who could help. Or last resort the Social Services will then take over. Believe me they are not the best either.
Government funded services are very poor these days. Finding reliable and professional people is all here say .

You will not face any penalty, but she may. If she is called to deploy and you bail on her, then she can face punishment and discharge. I had a cousin who signed my FCP and then told me she couldn't do it when I received orders to a school for 6 months. I not only lost my school, but was counseled as well. You need to tell her so that she can make other arrangements. Don't jeopardize her career because you're too afraid to tell her you changed your mind.

you won't have any troubles but she needs to make other arrangements or she will be. People need to be careful when they make those plans as do the people agreeing to these plans.

You will most likely have to provide a letter stating why you can no longer fill the role. There is no reason for you to worry..you will not get in trouble. However, what the others say is true..if she does not have anyone else to use in her FC plan, they will have no choice but to discharge her from the service. Having a FC plan is something all military members must have (be they married or single) in place for thier children. With single members it is imperitive..they have to be able to provide a rock solid plan or they simply are not allowed to serve. Without knowing what circumstances have changed, I would suggest you at least remain as the FC plan person until your sister can find someone else. If she can't , than I am afraid she will have to look for another career.
