What do you think of Obama's newly proposed universal health care plan?

I think it is a pretty decent idea which accounts for private insurance plans while also allowing for coverage of all individuals...any thoughts?

It sounds like business as usual... people who can afford it pay for themselves as well as for those who can't. It's just with the added expense of incompetant government beaurocracy.

I have not read the entire plan but on the surface it does seem to have some good elements in it. I don't favor a totally government run system as they have in Socialist countries and Canada. Insurance companies can't be trusted to do it totally either. But a combination might just work. At any rate it is more than I have seen from anybody else.

Of course the Republican plan is much simpler....Don't get sick.

Seems pretty reasonable...it is supposed to cost between 50 and 60 billion per year. since uninsured Americans already cost us 43 billion per year, it doesn't seem like a whole lot more if it actually works.

It is the same old liberal plan. Liberals want the government to run everything and liberals want to run the government. All of his numbers are made up. He is just throwing stuff out, which has been defeated in the past, to try to sum up voter support. Remember the Hillary plan. Once the plan was known, it got shouted down by virtually everyone.

I think it's not bad. As any idea would be, it's flawed. But no one's going to come up with the perfect solution.

What I'd like to see happen is a complete health care reform. I had a 23-hour hospital stay about twelve years ago for a surgery. The hospital room alone - JUST THE ROOM - cost my insurance company $11,000. That's more than ten times the amount you'd spend to stay overnight at a 5-star hotel. A dose of Tylenol was $185. There is NO reason it should cost that much. Not that I had to pay it - but someone did. And that's why medical insurance is so expensive. Because the prices for things are outrageous.

I think they should tackle tax reform first. If you take care of that other issues such as health care can be dealt with much more effectively.
