Why Can't The USA Have A Health Care Plan Like Canada Does???

Because the private sector does a better job than the government. I'm opposed to the USA letting people die just because they are old and not worth the cost of treatment like in Canada.............

You have to wait until you're almost dead to see a doctor.

I'm only saying that as a partial joke.

The sad reality is that 20% of the people waiting for treatment for colon cancer become terminal by the time they get off the waiting list.

Is that what you want for your parents? Your kids?

Canada lets you die if you're over 65 years old and need dialysis.

Well Canada's health plan is a failure. Why would any American want that here?

Because the U.S. has this crazy notion that health care should be the best.

Not socialized and watered down.

because we're not a socialist country like Canada is.

Because we don't want one like canada has, canadians needing emergency care and services come to our country, no thanks, no change needed.

We can, we choose not to, for now. Many of us believe in individual rights and freedoms, not the slavery of socialism. Monopolies are bad. A government monopoly is the worst since they have the power to ruin your life and throw you in jail if you don't participate.

You can have government or you can have freedom, you can't have both.

Government : from the root word govern. Meaning to control, restrain, manage, oppress.

Perhaps because we as a nation can't afford it! Medicare is going broke! Perhaps because I don't feel that I should pay for your healthcare! Get an education and a good job and you will be able to afford to purchase your own policy!

If we do that, where will the Canadians that need health care go? Many come over here because of the long wait. :)

I'm thankful that we don't have a plan such as theirs.

Why do we want one?

We have more choice and some people aren't forced to pay other people's bills.

Coz in the USA we like to think everyone is jealous of what we have over here...i.e. best health facilites.

Be humble and glad in your freedom to CHOOSE - oh how I wish we had that here in the UK where I am now. It's a 'nanny' state!!

Remember, you appreciate those this the most you have to pay for - in other words - YOUR HEALTH.

(btw - I STILL think doctors are overpaid. Work should be gauged by how hard you work. SO - imagine a town 100% EXCLUSIVELY for $100000 earners - then let them imagine there being no HARD WORKING trash collectors. See my point?)

And you want to wait six months to see a doctor. The Canadian system in terrible. No thanks.

If you want health care like they have in Canada, move to Canada but be prepared for long waits for a doctor appointment and once you are over 65 you had better be prepared to be denied for anything that is life threatening. You other option is to apply to be an illegal immigrant, seems they get everything for free.

The US CAN have a health care plan like Canada.

Vote for Hillary Clinton and you will get something similar.

There will be one very important benefit to her plan that few talk about.

You will be able to rack up a lot of frequent flier miles looking for a place to actually get quality treatment when you acutally need it as opposed to admiring the system of getting free asprins to illegal aliens from the grave.

Because our insurance companies own every politician in this country, and they fight tooth-and-nail to keep healthcare for-profit and fleecing the country.

EDIT:::: Anyone who says voting for Hillary will get us a national system like Canada is gullible to no end. Hillary takes more money from insurance lobbyists than any other candidate. In fact there is not a candidate out there willing to put national healthcare on the table.

You meann how Canadians come here for medical treatment because of the long wait time in Canada.

1. The government take 1 tax dollar and about 10 cents gets to the program.

2. Take that about out of your pay check. Now times 3 because your employer picks up about 75% of the cost and if we go to the government health care they are no longer going to cover you.

3. Take that total and divide by 0.10 and you will come out with the amount of taxes that are going to come out of your pay check to get the same kind of health care you are getting now.

Now you being a wise man and you most likely threw you calculator across the room by now or you don't like the numbers.

Please consider another thing the last time unverisal health care came up while Bill was the prez. It lead to the DNC down fall causing the GOP to take over.

If you want a repeat preformance of that please go ahead and preach the Canadain model. The results we be the same.

GOP will win and DNC will lose.

I read all the posts.....wow....all of them beat up a strawman big time. The issue is HEALTH INSURANCE...more to the point, HEALTH INSURANCE FOR ALL AMERICANS! Even more to the point, AFFORDABLE HEALTH INSURANCE! Nobody has suggested HEALTH CARE other than PRIVATE HEALTH CARE! The only way to get any kind of UNIVERSAL HEALTH INSURANCE is to institute a single payer system that INSURES everyone. Why? Because the current employer based HEALTH INSURANCE system is falling apart, plus, the current PRIVATE INSURERS won't or can't INSURE everyone...so millions of people can't contribute a thin dime to the system...guess who lands up paying? YOU DO! So forget Canada and all the rest of that nonsense...stop talking about HEALTH CARE.. that will stay as it is. AT LEAST ARGUE ABOUT THE PROBLEM...HEALTH INSURANCE FOR ALL AMERICANS! Get it?

Just look at your list of presidents. They're all mostly Republican (Ronald Reagan, Bush sr. and jr., etc.) and the democrats are too scared and weak to do anything (look at Bill for example. He said he would introduce health care, but failed).

That is why.

Because the insurance & pharmaceutical companies would lose the most money, and they are the biggest lobbyists on Capitol Hill.

Because the medical community owns the politicians who govern such a thing. Do you think the Republicans are going to budge fron million dollar kickbacks from the drug companies?
