Why do the left think that government health care plans are going to be "free?"?

It's not going to be free. Anyone with a fourth grade education can see what other social programs in this country cost us each year already, and the abuse some of them take.

It seems like the left is inflicted with "me"-ism. Some of you think that as long as someone else is paying for it, and not you, then it MUST be free. Are you all this selfish?

I think that, in their minds, that anything that doesn't have to be paid for at the time of the service is "free." So, therefore, it's not necessarily selfishness, it's short-sightedness. And, this would explain much of the left's agenda. Being short-sighted would explain why they think raising taxes will reduce the deficit and pay for social programs. They can't see that in the long term, raising taxes will bring down the economy. Just look at Clinton. He raised taxes, and when he left office, he stuck Bush with a recession. This is also why they want to pull out of Iraq. They can't see that the result of this will be chaos and death. This is exactly what they failed to see when we pulled out of Vietnam, and chaos and death is exactly what happened there, not to mention making the US look weak in the eyes of our enemies. This is why radical Islam thinks they can get away with terrorism--because they think we are weak. Being short-sighted is the root of what is wrong with the left.

Apparently they are. Or they are under some misguided notion that only the rich will be paying for it. Little do they know that any one making over 60K is considered rich.

Guess what, when a family with no health care has a child with an ear infection, they can't go to a doctor's office so guess where they take them? The ER. The ER costs are paid for by the tax payers when the family has no money. And guess what? The ER costs at least 4 times what a doctor office would cost so...you do the math. We're already paying for those without health insurance. We're actually paying more than if these people had some type of government coverage.

They don't think they will be free, they know it will be dependent upon the taxes raised. But it gives the illusion that they are providing for those less fortunate. It creates dependency, and voters. Those too lazy to do it on there own, will rely upon them and vote to keep them in power.

The real question is... Why do those in other countries (with such health care) still come here for their health care needs ?

Free and affordable are not the same thing.

Is there a difference in "free" going to tax cuts, to corporations that don't even know that they are getting a tax cut?

Taxes, that probably would be going to the "Overcharging" health community?

Shifting "free" from corporations like "Halifurton" and others, would free up funds for the to be free to all those that need health care.........Don't you think?

Well we have places to go, but either no way to pay for it or it's making and evaluating going to the doctor or putting gas in your tank to get to the job, to pay for your over priced health care premiums!

We don't, we are already paying them! Just ask the president of Anthem who makes a 2 Million dollar salary and a 12 million dollar bonus! And you really want to know why health care is so expensive.

It would be a damn shame to cut some of those people making obscene salaries and profits made off of the backs of the less than middle income! One-half of American Taxpaying Families make $25,000 a year OR LESS!!

This left leaning independent knows better. I've been on Medicare for nearly ten years now and pay a hefty premium. My COLA's have been next to nothing because of this administrations method of deciding what the definition of inflation is. Medicare is a government health program that is paid for by it's participants jut like National Health Care will be. Until you see the proposal in writing in it's final form, don't judge it. I'd be dead without Medicare.

Libraries, police forces, and firehouses are socialized. Though there is waaaay to much profit for US healthcare to become socialized anytime soon, I would pay higher taxes for it. IN A HEART BEAT.

Turn on the network news, this is why these poor deluded people think it is free, the media has been telling them the government will pay for stuff. If the media would just not lie, the government only has money it steals from us, if they would just say that 100 times a day for the next 30 years some of this people might get it,

but as it is, all they get is what the media tells them

If this country every fails the media will be fully complicit with the deed.

Because that is what Michael Moore and the Democrats are telling them, which anyone with a modicum of intelligence knows is a lie.
