Why doesn't Hilary take her health care plan to the senate now, if its so great?

The Democrats don鈥檛 have the 60 votes needed to get anything important past the Senate. Also, even if the Senate and the House approved it, Bush would veto it. Then the Democrats would need even more votes in the Senate, 2/3rds, in order to override the veto. It seems it would be an exercise in futility.

Because Bush has made it clear that he would veto it. I don't agree with her plan, but I can see why she would not offer it up in the senate now. If she becomes president, she will have more power over dems in congress to pressure them into voting for it and there will be no threat of a veto.

When the Republicans lose the White House and both the Senate and House of Representatives, it will be easier to pass is why.

Why is it that all the Republicans have set on their butts the past 8 years and not made ANY efforts to pass the legislation they had promised. Perhaps that is why so many people are leaving the Republican party and becoming Independents?

because she knows that even if they could manage to get it past obstructionist republicans in the senate, that Dubya would just veto it.

Because the Democrats DONT WANT anything done...they want to demagogue the issues and blame the President for anything and everything that happens...they can't run on ideas (being bereft of them) so they have to run against Bush. They also, of course, can't have any plan of Hillary's exposed for the packet of flim-flam it is.

Because she KNOWS that it's trash, designed only to deceive the uneducated or unwary voter.

Than she won't get credit for as president.

Probably because it would have little chance of passing at this time and, if it did manage to pass, it would be vetoed by the current president. Great does not mean it is necessarily a popular plan.

Because it didn't have a prayer when BIll was president either. It's a campaign promise, makes her look like she HAS a WORKABLE PLAN, AND WILL NEVER BECOME LAW.

Ken is right .... When a veto is the probable outcome, a politician sometimes has to wait for the exact right moment to offer such legislation. There are a lot of people out there that think universal health care is socialized medicine, but with more than 50,000,000 Americans unable to afford health care coverage, someting has to be done. We have an administration that thinks all Americans are fine and business as usual has to prevail. NO, we aren't fine! We must have a president that sees domestic problems have to be faced and dealt with BEFORE we go to war and fight with everybody on this planet ... over oil and business interests!

She needs a bargain to offer for the elections.
