Does anyone really support the universal health care plan that Obama and Hillary are trying to pursue?

honestly, what does everyone really think about it? i'm accepting all opinions. :D

No NO NO NO, a million times no!!! My brother is a disabled veteran. I had to take him to the VA hospital one day for a colonoscopy. I came away 100% CERTAIN that I do not in any way, shape, matter, or form want the U.S. government involved in health care. If you think you do, do what I did and take a disabled veteran to a VA hospital and see how they're treated.

What the government needs to do is get the DOCTORS to stop scamming us so everyone can afford their health care. Case in point: I went to the dermatologist. The BILL was $400. He ACCEPTED a $15 co-payment from me and $38 from my insurance company. If he'll take $53, then he should be CHARGING $53, **NOT** $400!!

It would be nice if everyone had health insurance.
There are alot of things to consider though.
Peole often refer to Canada and their plan. Well canada has a third or less the population of the USA. Canada does not have a huge influx of immigrants, most of whom are poor.

The medicare/medicaid budget is 600 billion dollars. It covers only part of the population.
Hillary and Obama have put their plans at estimating a 'addional' cost ( thats how much they would have to charge people or raise taxes by ) at 100-150 billion dollars.

Well if you went off the medicare budget using just regular old math I would say that insuring everyone would cost about 2.8 trillion dollars. minus the 600 billion for medicare thats about 2.2 trillion dollars more.

Now lets assume they could cut medical costs through tort reform, bargaining for lower pharmaceutical prices and efficiency of administration.. by 50% ( which I doubt it would ever be that great of a reduction )
Thats still over a trillion dollars more needed. per year.

I invite someone to show me how Hillary or Obama are anywhere close to funding this with 150 billion extra or whatever.

to come from this is out of control tax increases.. And as

I wish we had true universal health care paid for by our taxes. Like Canada or France.

Our government spends money every day on wars, if we spent that much money on health care for our citizens (yes just our own citizens) we would have enough to pay for it.

When it is war, we spend money like there is no tomorrow. When it is for health care, we always say we can't afford it.

I support it because I have lived in another country under that system and altho it is not perfect it is way, way better than what we have here. The U.S. is one of the only modern countries that does not have this protection for all.

Like I said, it is not perfect.. but it does work. And no one.. no one.. is left out.

Most people in this country support universal health care but not necessarily the plans put forward by Clinton and Obama.

Everyone but the doctors think it has substance
