Why do we pay for Iraqi freedom, but not for American's Health Care?

We continue to spend billions on Iraqi freedom for over four years, but we do not allow Americans THE FREEDOM to "own" their own health care plans, to "own" their insurance plans, to "own their own energy sources, (which are a major terrorist target, and so should be govt trust owned).... no, the US electorate are not allowed to own all these industries that had previously been "owned" by the citizens in government "trust". No, now, we allow priviate citizens to profit from the poorest people's money for energy, insurance, health care... and they have no charitable outlets for the poor. WHY CAN'T THE US CITIZENS ALL "POOL" THEIR MONEY AND PROVIDE THE BEST AND CHEAPEST INSURANCE FOR EVERYBODY???? It's called Universal Health Care and there should be NO PROFIT in it. It is always more efficient. So, there's the question, with one condition: don't try to argue my "parameters" ie, don't say "it wouldn't be cheaper"... just for this question assume my "paramenters" and answer. Thanks!

Ha, that's funny. I own my own health care and insurance plans. But you're here telling me that we don't have that freedom in this country. I guess what I'm going to do is beg to differ. Anybody can get health care in this country if they truly want it. I think you should do some more research before posting another uneducated question. There is a reason Americans recieve the best health care in the world.

I didn't tell you you don't have the right to "buy" insurance. But you can never own the "insurance company" as a society, like how we used to "own" the power companies. Report It

We have never owned the insurance companies, because they are owned by the power elite, that have written all the tax/investment advantages into insurance so that it acts like a Report It

poor man's investment vehicle, which it is not a good investment, either. I am well read on politics and power for over 30 years, and a CPA, BBA from UT Austin,(not a shabby outfit), so I am not intimidated by your insults to my integrity. Most people should Report It

understand that when your "facts" are shallow, you resort to personal attack, which is what you did to me. I am sorry the three votes may indicate that most people will follow a person that is attacking another, in self-preservation mode, instead of trying to Report It

understand the cocept of "commonwealth". It seems we have lost it's meaning in this world of "privitization". Report It

Make further, more educated comments yourself, and maybe we can have a real discussion, rather than your telling me that I am already a morass of sub or no-education. Maybe not. Discuss again why we as citizens, cannot leave a Report It

"principal" amount of money to be spent in helping others in the next generations to feed the poor and help small business get started. Maybe you don't fully realize how pervasive corporate profit influences your life, whether you allow it or not. Just think Report It

about this: What if we had just one dollar of tax paid for every year a taxpayer paid a dollar of tax or more, to not be spent as an "expense", but rather put into public "trust" , so it never gets spent. Just a portion of the earnings would be spent on mission projects, Report It

and continues to fund the principal to be sure it grows too. If that had been done, we would have more prosperity because helping people work and make money is the only way out of poverty and the best way to keep this country free and successful. Democracy Report It

is fragile. If we have too much poverty, we will automatically lose democracy, because poor people will be "slaves" for food, and you can't have democracy in the same neighborhood with "slaves". Don't let the TV tell you what the truth is. Report It

Cognize it yourself. If it doesn't make sense to you, then it is most likely not true. It is also possibly a contrived lie to make you believe a preconceived agenda. Truth is often stranger than fiction, and the government is no exception. Report It

An ex of mine often said... "If the truth were known".... well if we could all agree on the truth, then the solutions would not be so difficult. But those powers that don't want "the truth" to be known, because it is against their profit motive, Report It

don't have to tell you the truth, they just have to give you an alternative "theory" which gets substantiated by some GOP/Democrat funded think tank. The truth, in full, is probably a third, non-publicized theory. You have do dig and consider the sources to find your truth. Everybody gets Report It

their own "truth" in this society. That's part of mine. Share yours with everyone here. Good luck. Report It

"All the truth in the world adds up to one big lie". (Song:Things Have Changed) "Freedom, is just around the corner for you... but with "truth" so far off... What good will it do?" )Song: Jokerman" -Bob Dylan (Did I mention I love Bob Dylan music and poetry???) Report It

it's all weird. life is weird.

We're already paying to give the illegal aliens free schooling, welfare and Medical.

because we love freedom,we just dont care about anything else...lol

Do you have any idea how much money is being generated by the invasion of Iraq? How much economic loss is being prevented by it's control? If not you should look into it. It makes plenty. There is no universal healthcare because of internal politics. It's like saying "Why do we spend money on roads and not get healthcare", you need roads to make money, but it is not the roads fault the government chooses not to implement a universal healthcare system.

Always more efficient? Are you kidding me? Good grief, try actually talking to somebody that lives with universal health care. It is sooooo terrible! It takes hours to be treated in the ER as it is now, and with universal health care, everybody would go in for trivialities anyway, and the system would be backed up even worse. Everybody would suffer.

Anyway, why shouldn't there be profit? People devote their lives to other professions... if doctors didn't make a profit, nobody would want the job. Doctors are already working 16-hour shifts, and dealing with high-stress and high-risk-exposure situations, and I don't think universal health care would make people want the job any more.

Your point about the rich people profiting from the poor's money is horribly misguided. Haven't you ever heard the statistic that the richest 10% of Americans pay 85% of the tax money collected? It seems to me like the bottom 90% of people are getting off awfully cheap... and as it is, hospitals don't turn away life and death patients based on their insurance. They save their lives -using tax dollars- and then put them on their feet once they're healthy enough.

And finally, I'll conclude with the way you started. Iraq. We have eliminated a genocidal dictator who slaughtered thousands of his Kurdish countrymen, who set up death camps and rape camps, alongside mass graves. How dare you be insensitive enough to ignore those horrors, while implying that a homeless man's runny nose was more deserving of attention?

To your very first question, it is because we want to look good to the world. To the last question, if we "pool" our money together and there wouldn't be no profit in it, then who would pay those who provide the insurance? The government? But then you would be paying them with your tax money, so taxes would have to go up...kind of crazy...

We do have public health care, it just isn't what the democrats want so that they can get the votes that they want. Democrats want a socialist country, but the Republicans keep getting in their way.
Hospitals funded by the government, state or federal have to treat whomever comes through their doors. We have public clinics that do the same thing. What we need are people who will take care of themselves and not get into trouble, as best they can, but no one, especially the democrats want to foster such outrageous ideas because that would cost them votes.

America is all about profit and capitalism. If we had truly effective universal health care, we'd have to get rid of that middle-man, the health insurance companies...and let's face it. It's not going to happen while our government promotes those institutions. You're right, it would be cheaper. But it would take away the huge amounts of money politicians receive as contributions and it would make people in the insurance business more than a little pissed off. They wouldn't be making the millions and billions they're used to.
The entire system needs to change. It's supposed to be a government for the people, by the people. Not for the few who can afford it.

If universal health care is always more efficient, as you state, then why do Canadians die on waiting lists for operations?

Because its rich and powerful who sees benefit in war on terror. Things like domestic violent crimes, poor health care that cause suffering to poor and insignificant people in the country don't get that much attention.

There is no money or profit in that and money is what makes the world go around. The U.S. is a greedy country and money talks when it comes to our leaders. If there is cash to be made we are there! Just like Iraq.

We are not paying for the Freedom of the Iraqi in planet of apes.

We are paying for our own Liberation Freedom with the mess created in own backyards with living human kind living in misery with the blunders and slip-ups with human errors in the creation of living human kind into mankind with living words of intelligent design being created with artificial intelligence of artificial design with ghostly stories and deadly words in making a mess in planet of apes
Ever wonder Iraq is just a living examples of punishment and destruction of human errors in idol worshiping the dead Mummy and not in worshiping God in planet of apes.
Ever wonder how Batman and Robin of the West with the Joker of the East were blind as a bat hanging upside down in making a mess out there in planet of apes?
