Giuliani's health care plan more of the same as we have now. Is the Dem's plan socialist?

Giuliani, the Republican party's presidential frontrunner in national polls, also said that "government cannot take care of you. You've got to take care of yourself."

Republicans like to toss around the words "socialist" and "socialism" like they're kids playing hot potato. The reason for this is simple: fear. They want the American people to be too afraid to say we want Health Care coverage for all because as one of the richest nations in the World, we should have Health Care coverage for all. They want the American people to be too afraid of the government that is supposed to protect our rights, not invading them by spying on its own citizens. They want the American people to be afraid of another terrorist attack so that they will be too afraid to vote for any candidate who is not a Republican.
This is their logic even though it was a Republican Mayor who was in office in New York City on that fateful day in 2001 and a Republican who occupied the office of the President at that same time. If blame and responsibility lay with the Mayor of New Orleans and the Governor simply because they are Democrats and were in office when Hurricane Katrina struck, as Republicans believe it should, then shouldn't the responsibility for 9/11 lay with Republican Mayor Giuliani and Republican President George W. Bush? But I digress...
The Republicans want the American people complacent and apathetic. They want these things because, truth be told, they're the ones who are afraid. They know that they have woken and angered a sleeping giant. They now know that the majority of the American people do not agree with their policies foreign or domestic. They're afraid because they know their time is up and that it will not be long before they are swept from office by the American people. They're afraid of a revolution that is long overdue.
But the American people can not fall victim to the politics of fear. We can not and must not be afraid to act. Instead, we must be afraid of what's to come if we choose not to act in the best interests of our Country, instead acting in our own self-interest or not at all. We must let hope, determination, pragmatism, patience and even a small amount of anger, but never violence, guide us. We must realize that we simply can not jump from point A to point Z. We must go to every point in between, and that is where the patience comes in to play. It will take time, but eventually, we will guide this great nation, the United States of America in the direction that We the People wish for it to go as our Forefathers had intended.

Sir that was well said and perfectly written! I was going to pick you for the best answer anyway but the voters have already agreed with what I you are saying!

Thank you for saying the things that people seem to be missing while this so called ultra important election. Report It

Yes, but there are people who CAN'T take care of themselves.

I pay for my own healthcare..people actually trust the government to take of them..good luck

I feel it's balloney. His idea in some ways it's good because it takes the burden from employers to provide health coverage, this could raise productivity but at what cost to workers? The cost of private individual insurance is much higher, his plan provides no cushion at all, like at least a government voucher system which would be friendlier to private industry yet not leave you unprotected. As a consumer you loose bargaining power under a private individual plan, if he could come up with a plan that can keep the prices of meds and doctor care reasonable at the level of corporate employee benefit plans, then we are talking, otherwise I give it a zero, giving tax cuts to people who leave their employee plan for a private individual plan is ridiculous, what does that do in the meantime when having to pay bigger deductibles and co-pays. And how would he pay for these tax cuts with a 4 trillion dollar budget defecit he'll be inheriting if he becomes President "That's not conservative". Sounds like a promise that won't be kept by a campaigning presidential candidate.

Most other countries like Canada, Japan, Germany has universal healthcare, and we don't consider them socialist, so tossing socialism as a buzzword is nothing but a cop-out just designed to instill fear, and avoid having to deal with the fact 45 million have lost their healthcare benefits and that number is growing, under the status quo, that Giulliani insists on maintaining.

But the government has the responsibility to make sure that it is POSSIBLE to take care of yourself. I don't see them doing that by fixing insurance premiums. . . So maybe if there were some sort of alternative for the people that can't afford to pay $500.00 per month to cover their family for health insurance.

It is just another Republican looking out for poor corporate America. . .
