What is a care plan for children in foster care and when should this be written up and shown to the parents? |
whom is the care plan between and what information is in such a thing who should get the care plan mother foster mum and whom else and what should be in such a plan The care plan is for the bio parents who are working for reunification. It is what they are to do to show they are serious and are doing what they need to do before they can have custody of thier children again. Somethings may include, not testing postive for drugs, attending meetings, attending weekly visits with the child etc...a care plan will also be for the child and the foster parents. The foster parents plan will include daily care of the child, keeping up with immunizations, reporting any injuries etc... Sounds like you are unprepared for this endeavor...ok...ummm Are you asking as a foster carer or biological parent? A care plan varies depending upon the situation with the child. Does the biological parents still have custody or is this granted to the state? Is restoration in the cards for the child or are they looking to place them in a more permanent and stable placement? What country are you in? I'm only asking as each case plan is different and determined by the needs of the child, not the biological parents as mentioned previously. I am a foster carer and have 8 children. 3 are biological ours, and the other 5 are foster children, not all of them have the same parents. All 5 are longterm placements too (meaning they will be with us until the are 18) The government has full custodial power over them. I have also done respite and short-term care as well. Each child we have, we have been part of the care plan and reviews and have had rights in the decisions made for the child and what is best for them and our family. If you want to drop me an email and explain a bit more I could give you a pretty thorough rundown on how a care plan is put in place and what important issues will be addressed, your rights as a carer or bio parent too. The best interest of the child should be the number priority of all parties involved and this is the primary focus of the case plan. |
