Health Care Plans Obama vs Clinton?

Reading Obama's health care plan, I don't think it addresses the real issue. It appears to be pouring more money into the companies. The cost of Health care has increased 76 percent over the last 7 years. The Insurance companies are making bigger profit by charging more. This is not addressed in Obama's plan; just continues to hand over money to the Insurance companies & passed onto the CEOs. Hillary has campaigned that the cost of insurance needs to be brought down to make it affordable. John Edwards also campaigned on this. Hillary's plan is based more on health care needs, such as cancer, seniors, Autism, etc. with more options to decide exactly what coverage you need and more options and variety of insurers, included what Congress has. Both Obama and Clinton's Health care plans allow you to keep what you have now if you wish. What are your thought? And to the Obama supporters, is this your understanding?

Hillary's plan, is not government run, it gives the Option of government insurance, the same as Obama's does. The difference is that Hillary's covers it all. Where so many Obama supporters choose him over this issue, they need to think. Mandatory, means everyone will be covered, it will be affordable, not like it is now. Where for most, they cannot afford to pay their portion, where the employers cannot compensate as much as they have in the past. Will people be fined for not carrying it, no, but when you go to the emergency room, you will be required to sign up, and pay a few months past premiums maybe, but you will be covered and not hit with mega bills which you cant pay, and everyone else's insurance goes up cause costs go up, to cover your expense. Making it mandatory eliminates that, with 15 million not covered, it isnt solving the problem, its creating a different one, either way the costs will still go up if it is not mandatory!!! Hillary's is the only way to go, it might not be perfect but it is the best choice.

Vote Hillary!!! 2008

both don't work

hillary wants a full government run healthcare system

obama still wants to work with them but severely reduce the prices

They both call for governent to regulate and control healthcare and will cost in the trillions of dollars to operate. Neither plan will work.

How well did the govenment handle Katrina? I for one do not want them in control of anything. For sure not my personal records.

Hillary had 8 years to pass her health plan. This was her "platform" as first lady when Bill was President and could not pass it in 8 years. Obama's plan is just verbage.

both plans are unworkable..obama's more so than hillary's because he doesn't have a plan to reduce any one costs.. I am just going to keep my own plan and tell them both to stick theirs where the sun doesn't shine!

Hilary laid hers out , plain and simple.. like it or not.

Obama copied what he liked of hers then procrastinated on the rest until he sees what will be popular...

Same old same old.. Obama!

Both call for us to pay a tremendous amount of taxes. Don't let them tell you any different. "We'll tax the wealthy and the corporations" is a fallacy. Wait and see.

Vote republican go for ron paul read about his health care platforms government should not be in control of health care they should not play doctor we have ACTUAL doctors for this and they know what their own patients need not the government beurocrats

I have been listening to Hillary Clinton's health plan for several years. She has done 'positive' things to improve it, more and more each time. Her idea is also good because she has been truthful in what she has said. Most of today's politicians are not truthful. Again, Hillary has been truthful for many years. She is experienced in what has been going on with people and she sincerely cares about us all. I wish for you and your loved ones, a most prosperous, healthy, God-inspired, Happy New Year.

Obama is more interested in cutting costs and making insurance available and affordable for everyone. Hillary says she wants to cut costs but she also wants to mandate coverage for everyone.

Personally, I don't trust her since she's one of the most paid off members in Congress right now when it comes to the health-care lobbies. Why would she want to slaughter the golden calf?

But you can compare their plans for yourself:

and go to the detailed comparison pdf.

Hillary wants to expand the mandated health care system that Romney instituted in Massachusetts, a plan which is enforced by the IRS. In Massachusetts, residents who have a lapse in their healthcare coverage can receive up to a $2000 fine from the IRS. The IRS requires proof of insurance each year with W2's. The IRS can garnish wages, freeze bank accounts, add penalties and interest for those who do not pay their fines. This plan is a big problem because it can not be enforced on undocumented workers, only legal residents. Now, Hillary wants to bring Romneys plan of mandated health insurance national and she will have the IRS enforce it, just like Romney. Many of the messages posted above about Hilarys plan are BS. Most people don't know what Mandated health care means because they have never had it in their state.

Obama has no plans but just copied speeches could be copied plans too

With HRC's plan employer with eventually drop health care benefits knowing their employee's will be covered under 'government sponsored' insurance, thus saving them money, increasing their profits and shifting the burden onto the taxpayer. As a result, costs will sky rocket as the major insurers (who by the way played a major part in the development of her plan, but that's a whole discussion in it's self) divide up the government contracts and drive out the smaller competition. They will set their rates, they WILL still make their profits, even larger after implimantation. They won't have to worry about delinquencies because they will be guaranteed payment from the taxpayer. Medical institutions will slash their research funding. (M. D. Anderson in Houston TX USA spends more on research now than the entire nation of Canada)

Do some research on the subject and you will find that the numbers used in her proposed plan are not entirely accurate (from her own source). The most glaring is that the number of uninsured citizens is overstated by almost a factor of two.

Yes' we have issues with our health care system, there is no denying that, but her plan is the absolutely wrong way to address it.

And one last thing, her campaign is the largest recipient of donations from the health care industry, and it's not because they expect their profits to get smaller.

I don't see that difference. Here's why:

"Affordable premiums, co-pays and deductibles.
Subsidies. Individuals and families who do not qualify for Medicaid or SCHIP but still need financial assistance will receive an income-related federal subsidy to buy into the new public plan or purchase a private health care plan.
Simplified paperwork and reined in health costs. "

"National Health Insurance Exchange: The Obama plan will create a National Health Insurance Exchange to help individuals who wish to purchase a private insurance plan. The Exchange will act as a watchdog group and help reform the private insurance market by creating rules and standards for participating insurance plans to ensure fairness and to make individual coverage more affordable and accessible. Insurers would have to issue every applicant a policy, and charge fair and stable premiums that will not depend upon health status. The Exchange will require that all the plans offered are at least as generous as the new public plan and have the same standards for quality and efficiency. The Exchange would evaluate plans and make the differences among the plans, including cost of services, public.
Expansion Of Medicaid and SCHIP: Obama will expand eligibility for the Medicaid and SCHIP programs and ensure that these programs continue to serve their critical safety net function.
Flexibility for State Plans: Due to federal inaction, some states have taken the lead in health care reform. The Obama plan builds on these efforts and does not replace what states are doing. States can continue to experiment, provided they meet the minimum standards of the national plan.
Lower Costs by Modernizing The U.S. Health Care System
Reducing Costs of Catastrophic Illnesses for Employers and Their Employees: Catastrophic health expenditures account for a high percentage of medical expenses for private insurers. The Obama plan would reimburse employer health plans for a portion of the catastrophic costs they incur above a threshold if they guarantee such savings are used to reduce the cost of workers' premiums.
Support disease management programs. Seventy five percent of total health care dollars are spent on patients with one or more chronic conditions, such as diabetes, heart disease and high blood pressure. Obama will require that providers that participate in the new public plan, Medicare or the Federal Employee Health Benefits Program (FEHBP) utilize proven disease management programs. This will improve quality of care, give doctors better information and lower costs.
Coordinate and integrate care. Over 133 million Americans have at least one chronic disease and these chronic conditions cost a staggering $1.7 trillion yearly. Obama will support implementation of programs and encourage team care that will improve coordination and integration of care of those with chronic conditions.
Require full transparency about quality and costs. Obama will require hospitals and providers to collect and publicly report measures of health care costs and quality, including data on preventable medical errors, nurse staffing ratios, hospital-acquired infections, and disparities in care. Health plans will also be required to disclose the percentage of premiums that go to patient care as opposed to administrative costs.
Tackle disparities in health care. Obama will tackle the root causes of health disparities by addressing differences in access to health coverage and promoting prevention and public health, both of which play a major role in addressing disparities. He will also challenge the medical system to eliminate inequities in health care through quality measurement and reporting, implementation of effective interventions such as patient navigation programs, and diversification of the health workforce.
Insurance reform. Obama will strengthen antitrust laws to prevent insurers from overcharging physicians for their malpractice insurance and will promote new models for addressing errors that improve patient safety, strengthen the doctor-patient relationship and reduce the need for malpractice suits. You are right that insurance companies are gobbling up money left and right. The government currently has stupid requirements about what can and can't be sold, etc. Just adds to costs.
But no, the TRUE difference I see between Obama & Hil on health insurance is that he gives adults the options of being insured or not, she doesn't--it's mandatory.

The real question is, which one of these plans costs the middle class more taxpayer money? There seems to be discrepancies wherever you look.

A-ha, thanks for sharing your opinion. I think I'll stick with my own reading.
