What are the roles of district nurses giving care to a diabetic patient?

explain the roles of district nurses in the community ,when giving care to dibetic patients, explain the roles they play

If you are talking U.S., G has given most of it. Additionally, the public nurse would be sure that the patient has access to the supplies they need and help them find resources if they don't. They would also see that sharps are being properly disposed of, children don't have access, and no medicines or supplies are expired.

sorry to answer you with a question is this a UK based query please ?

As I can give you insight if it is, if USA not a clue.

regards

Not so sure in the usa. Depends on the type of diabetic patient whether they are insulin dependant or not? Able to give insulin or diet controlled?
If they are insulin dependant the district nurses role is to check the blood sugar morning and night and administer the insulin. They must keep a record of this to check how well controlled the blood sugar levels are. Its also their responsibility to check for any cracks or wounds on the legs as this is really important to a diabetic as the blood doesnt flow as well as a healthy individual and they are more prone to ulcers.
Hope this helps

They usually play the role of teacher. They will teach about the disease itself, how to test blood sugar, what are the normal levels, diet, medications and how to give insulin if needed, foot care(yes this is important with diabetes). They will make sure the patient understands every thing and how to do everything.
