Can an american citizen come to england and get hospital care? |
elderly lady whose only relatives are here in England needs 24 hour care. What can be done? Not knowing the ins and out of the illness or how close the relatives are, if anything she would have to go into a special residential care home to the type of care needed, not a hospital if she needed 24 hr care. Hospitals don't keep long term patients,(unless they need special meds and equipment) they usually have social services help the patient and family find a special care home who can give those needs. Anyone can we're a JOKE country YEs.. but please bring health insurance. Not really fair to the locals who have to pay for that system to operate and you suck up their funds. Surely there must be something they would do for her in America, they wouldnt just put an old lady whos severely ill out on the streets. I'd have to agree with Gotcha. EVERYONE comes here for free hospital care. I think it's nice that someone is actually asking to use our services, instead of taking them for granted!!! Yes, they can get health care here, but would have to pay, they would not get it free like UK citizens who have paid through mandatory deductions from salaries etc. Hope that she has a good medical insurance to cover her costs until she has been here long enought to claim resident status. Yes but do you think the standard of health care available in the UK is sufficient. I would encourage you to think about countries in the developing world eg Africa, Asia. In fact just about anywhere as the NHS is abysmal. You go in for the simplest procedure & end up dead with MRSA! I was ill while I was in England. I called my insurance provider to make sure that my insurance would cover my care in the UK and found out that it would. She's not entitled to NHS treatment. Any care she receives she will have to pay for. If she has no insurance, and limited assets/income, she will be taken care of for free in the United States under her state's Medicaid program. check with the agencys.........oh_hell Read this: http://www.adviceguide.org.uk/index/fami... :-) She can have all the hospital care she needs here but if she has no health insurance she will get a bill for it. Healthcare costs here are on a par with America so she won't save any money. The NHS is for people who have the right to live in Britain, not for health tourists trying to avoid costs at home. Hospitals here now have departments to trace foreign patients and make sure they pay for treatment recieved. If Asian's can i don't think there will be any discrimination against Americans NO if she is fit to fly she is not in need of medical care unless she is take ill on route or at landing then she would have to have medical travel insurance No she is not legible for free medical treatment in the Uk.When we visit the states we have to take out Medical Insurance so have any US citizen coming here.If the lady has close friends or relatives they could perhaps club together and pay the bill for her. Sure thing, if she pays for it, she can get it. |
