Are the elderly being taken care of?

Elfadea, keep up the good work.

Thank you.

My ladies and gentlemen are all well and .... they're wonderful. They are the reason I go to work ..... it's not for the money, like most people, I could get more flipping burgers or stacking shelves. I deem it an honour to look after a generation who lived through the war, some actually fought in it.

After reading the answer above me. I have just blown the whistle on a couple of colleagues who shouted and belittled one of my ladies. One of our assistant cooks calls me a trouble maker because I insist on reasonably sized portions. some of the staff get pig sick of me making drinks for anyone who want them.

Some of the staff think I'm weird for wanting to have a rousing sing a long and encourage the residents to join in as loudly as they want when I have a spare 15 minutes (usually when our breaks are under way) when I could be sitting in a staff huddle.

Some of the staff scoff at me for always presenting a beaming smile to our clients and ALWAYS greeting them with enthusiasm and respect.

Strangely enough, I am very popular with the residents themselves and their families..

No they are not and I speak from personal experience having worked in my fair share of Nursing Homes in the past. The elderly are neglected, treated terribly sometimes with violence, not fed or given water if they refuse. As a staff nurse, my job was drug rounds and paper work, but when I was on each and every resident of the home I was working in at the time was treated with respect and dignity, its a shame not all nurses have the same empathy for the elderly as I do. We are all going to get old one day. As it is at the moment, I hope I die before I ever need to go in a home.

NO; the elderly ain't taken care of. i have worked in a few nursing homes, some where really nice but others were hell hole's,the thing that mostly disgust me is that if a husband and wife need help with all their personal needs that they are put into different home's, unless they have loads of money, also the government don't give a dam about them even though they fought for their country

Some are but others are poorly treated
