Care for elderly? |
Mother in law has $30k too much in mutual funds, she has house in my husbands name and hers and his name is on all her documents, can he transfer everythingn out of her name into his, so, she would qualify for assistance? Is she able to sign documents then just have her sign the papers. If not go to a lawyer they will help. If she didn't have anything in her name then they would have nothing to take into account when working out her bills. Transfer everything and she'll qualify. im not to sure if he can transfer but i think if you talk to your mom-in-law and your goverment you may just be able to! hope you can get out of this problem Yes she can but you may have to go thru a lawyer . I'm not sure if it's the same in all areas, but where we are things needed to be transfered a few years BEFORE the need for help in order for it to be legal. If you have a Senior Federation or something on that order in your area, give them a call to get the best advice for this. why not advertise for a full time carer to live in to look after her like a companion, about the assistance if she handed everything to him she would be able to i think, she can sell him everything for $1 dollar and then government cant deny her a thing ..but for your mom-in-laws- sake she should fill out her will now and give everybody whatever she wants now..another way around your situation is for your son to become POA( power of attorney) for her and move her in with you ..if she has that much $ why not sell and get the money to take care of her...if it is dragging your husband down financially he can remove himself from accounts but that won't help her any..get a consult from a lawyer Elderly care does not depends on How much worth you have? Put her on Social Security Benefits, call the social security office and find it if she is qualified for Part.... |
