Elderly care...? |
I just started caring for a 92 year old women who is doing very good for her age. She does a lot on her own and i am maily there for companionship. Just offer. Hey, you did a little yard work how about a nice warm shower to prevent muscles aches. I'll put some lotion on and rub your shoulders! Do you want a quick wash up? Or just wait for an oportune moment. If she says something aches, suggest a shower. Thank you two voters, for the best answer votes! Report It This depends on her comfort level and if she is incontinent. If she is comfortable with an additional shower, I would encourage it. If she is incontinent, I would really advise it. This is a major cause of urinary tract infections in the elderly. You should suggest it in a nice upbeat way. Try saying, "how about a nice shower, that sound relaxing", or but her some fancy shower gel, be nice, she is 92 and you will be old some day too. for sanitary reasons i'd have to agee with you but many elderly people do the same thing . they don't really get dirty. if she isn't incontinent and she doesn't have an odor, maybe let it go. she has managed all this time just fine apparently. does she have any trouble in the shower? you could ask her why she only takes one per week and offer to help her if needs it. i think by telling her that she should take more you may upset her. The elderly do not need to bath as often as younger people. their skin gets very dry. She needs to wash her bottom and under her arms at least three times a week. Tell her it will keep her from getting the skin disease that is going around. |
