Elderly care? Please read. :(?

I care for my elderly grandma, and I'm looking for some things, I'm wondering if anyone can help me?
Pee pads, reuseable, the kind that are some sort of plastic on the bottom and fabric on the top.
Also I'm looking for the part that catches the urine and fesces on a potty chair, can anyone help me?

At a cheap price. No more than 10 dollars for a pee pad and no more than 5 for a potty chair.. Or there abouts.

Sure honey..and it is very kind of you to take care of your grandma. Call your local Hospice Organization..they will be glad to assist you..If your Grandma is terminally ill..they will provide these items and also many other things for you at no charge..Bless your heart!

check with walgreens or any other medicare supply store

if you have a goodwill in your neighborhood, they may have equipment to borrow. i borrowed things for my hubby from our local goodwill. No cost either. I think you are looking for the flannel covered pads to protect bedding that have plastic or rubber in them.. I got those or something like it in a baby section of a used store(Salvation Army, Goodwill, etc) I got the crib size pad and it worked great for under my husband. I had 2 of them so I could wash one and use one.

Call Hospice and see what they can tell you.
My friend worked for them and she gave my mom some reusable (washable) pads with plastic on bottom and pad on top.

Also, call Area Agency on Aging. Even if you do not qualify, they are all so nice there and will try to help you find anything you are needing for your grandma.

I think your Dr. can write a 'prescription' for the 'furniture' like potty chairs or wheel chairs, or hospital beds, etc. and you can get them thru medicare. Don't know for sure.

If not, you can go to yard sales or look in your 'Thrifty Nickel' paper and find all kinds of stuff like that for very little money.

The thing is, everybody who deals with elderly people is soooo nice and they really do try their best to help you.

God bless you for taking care of your grandma.

In the UK this would be provided for by the NHS, via a nurse, doctor, health visitor and here you don't pay for it. I hope you are looking after yourself and get breaks from the family. And I believe carers are entitled to an allowance. I saw what my mother went thru with my Granda for 14 years, and it was hard for her, as he also was an alcoholic, while my Dad had to do the same as you, after work, to tend his Father who was bedridden, but that was the old way. You have to get relief and a break, and remember your Gran had a good life even if near the end, you have a life to lead too and enjoy. I can only admire your loyalty and kindness. xx

You need a clean pad for your grandmother each time you need to make a change. Do you mean "Chux" or pads like that? As for the pot, that goes into the adult potty chair, check a drug store or some medical suplly stores. You may be able to get the info you need about the items, by calling a Senior Center.

Contact the local Nursing Homes in your area. See where they donate supplies that are given to the facility when someone expires. They will also have cataloges with a price list and in the case of these two items the Supply Manager will probably know them off the top of their head.
The cloth incontinent pads are a god send to be sure and easy to launder.
We donated all our parents supplies to a local are Hospice who has a lot of helpful people.
Good luck

Contact a local Home Healthcare Equipment and Supply store. You should ask if your grandmother's health insurance (or medicare or medicaid) will cover these things. Invacare waterproof reusable bedpads run about $12.00. I'm not sure about the prices of replacement parts for the bedside commode (you'll need to find the name of the company that made the potty chair and the model number-it should be marked on the chair somewhere.)

You can also try contacting your local area agency on aging. See if there is a helpline for your area, try dialing 2-1-1. Tell the helpline operator what you are looking for, and the operator may be able to refer you to a program that can help. For example, we have a medical equipment bank in my area that helps people locate equipment and some supplies. There may be other programs in your area that can donate these things to your grandma, or at least help you find them for little money.

Best wishes to you and your grandma!

Depending on where you live, the pee pads or under pads as we call them cost me $30.00. They were the larger ones. I can't remember how many you get for that price. I purchased mine at a pharmancy supply store. Can't help with the potty chair.

Jaylen, sounds like you need to be a little more friendly. If someone is in need of help, it is very rude how you answered the question..

I don't know the answer, so am only making a comment.

look in the yellow pages. There are medical needs places that provide the pads (be careful so she doesn't slip off that, one guy I know slipped off), walkers, potty seats, potties for near the bed, wheel chairs, crutches, etc.. Or search for them in your city on the internet (although use the internet as a last resort. sure they send stuff to you but shipping is costly). You can buy "depends" at the grocery store.

Try a Geri-care web site.If you have a Cancer Center in your area, call and ask if they have any donations you can have.Any Senior outreach will be able to guide you...

Dude, are you serious? You can't reuse diapers. Would you reuse a pad or a tampon? I don't think so. Would you buy a $5 toilet for yourself? I doubt it.
