Would I enjoy living in New Zealand?

I am thinking of moving to New Zealand- I am a Nurse, working in the Drug treatment and forensic services in the uk. But disillusioned with the NHS and society here. I have heard great things about NZ, anyone out there with advice please

Essentially, this comes down to one question : "Do you enjoy having sexual intercourse with farm animals?" If (a) Yes, then you'll love New Zealand. if (b) No, I probably wouldn't bother. They don't call 'em sheepfuckers for nothing, you know.

yes its a beautiful place.

newzealand is an amazing place for scenery.

if you like all that stuff you would love it

=]

maybe! i'm a nursing student :)

New Zealand looks so lovely.

Better the Devil you know

yup u will

go GO GO GO GO GO GO GO don't think about if your`ll enjoy it......

YES YOU WILL oh what an opportunity you have...... its a fantastic place,,,,,

GO GO GO GO GO GO GO GO GO.............

AND GOOD LUCK....X

first u have to know their anthem, its God Defend New Zealand, and some people know the maori version.

Go for it, if you think you can get used to smelly sheep

Great place to go too

Hi!

I have become disillusioned with the NHS here too after a particularly bad experience involving my late Mother.

New Zealand is an amazing place, so diverse, soooo clean and so many opportunities.

Being a visitor we did not know what to expect, we found the Kiwis to be open, honest and genuinely very friendly.

I have been lucky to do lots of travelling and for the first time can honestly say that if I had the opportunity I could settle in NZ.

Last November I got engaged in NZ so I suppose it holds a special place in my heart, but my now Husband and I have very fond memories of our travels across NZ and would go back any day (money/time permitting!)

If you have a job offer go for it, you won't regret it! - plenty of shops, culture, great food - plus all the other things I've already mentioned.

Good Luck deciding!

I have never been but my brother and his wife have lived NZ for 14 years, they are in Picton which looks beautiful. You need to have work but as you are a nurse it should be easy to get the points, My sister in law went out there as a physiotherapist and got plenty of work but is now in a lab at a vineyard. Housing is cheaper but wages are lower and the population is less than that of London in a country bigger than UK......
Do plenty of research and check any links on the net...
Good luck to you....

Why not go on a holiday there first, if you haven't been before.

I'm British too and my impression of New Zealand is it has an uncanny familiarity about it compared to Britian. A broadly similar climate in many areas and almost no culture clash at all. it's a gorgeous country where for the most part the aggressive daily rat race of life doesn't seem to be quite as aggressive and fast compared to Britain.

I'm a police officer and there are oprtunites for police as well to emmegrate to New Zealand, in fact the New Zealand police have been actively recruiting in the UK in the recent past. Some however have returned to the UK citing the main reason as being the wages and cost of living (in Auckland) as not comparing very favourabley with what they left behind. Housing etc is cheaper in other towns and cities.

I'd therefore try to research what kind of income you could expect. From the point of view as a visitor and not a resident I didn't consider NZ to be particularly expensive although my mate in Christchurch says the general cost of living has increased significantly in the last few years and that was after spending six years living in England himself.

If you are in the UK - see the EXPO coming up in your area soon http://www.expo-newzealand.com You get to talk to immigration direct as well as employers. NZ and Australia are so short on Nurses and on the skilled shortage list.

It is a great place - South Island is much nicer and more laid back !

Christchurch would be a great starting place for you.

There is no NHS in NZ and the seaons are different to ours. But the lifestyle is brill. I have family there and I've been there twice.

Great place to live. The cost of living is about the same as the UK, food, rent, etc. Salaries are around half to two thirds the UK rate. About the only thing cheaper is fuel but as a friend of mine said, that doesn't help as there are no roads once you get to the edge of the cities.
NZ is all about quality of life in the great outdoors.
If this is of more interest to you than material values then go for it. Bear in mind, if you need to get back to the UK the flight costs are the same but with the lower salary you probably won't be able to afford it.
Think long and hard and do your research. Nurses are in demand here, mostly because NZ nurses have gone to OZ and UK.
Good luck
