Student nurse from Keele Uni. Interested in forensic nursing. Any ideas how I go about it please xx? |
asked my personal tutor and other tutors and they just say "look on internet". How helpful! Which branch are you studying? Forensic nurses are usually qualified in mental health. Will be impossible to get into with an adult, child or learning difficulties qualification. Yeah ask one of your tutors... Talk to your tutor! The next step would be to find someone in your area who works in forensics and then badger them into accepting you on a placement or at least meet you for a chat. You may also be able to get a placement at the local prison, if you have no joy with the standard healthcare (they can have difficulty accepting you due to safety and security issues) the mental health in-reach team may be able to help (they work in a different way and can often accept students more easily). Ultimately, with any area of nursing, a good basic grounding in acute and chronic care is really helpful. The very best of luck....it's an interesting area of work and study Most forensic nurses don't deal with what you would think (investigation of corpses) but they do like sexual assault examinations. |
