TRICH? What tests need to be done to detect this?

i went to planned parenthood for testing. altho the nurse said i didn't need a herpes test, i had a culture done anyway. (she said i would've had symptoms within 48 hrs and it was 3 days later) i was tested for chlymadia, syphyllis, gonnorhea, and hiv. I had to wait for the results. In the meantime, i had no symptoms, no rash, no discharge. And today i received my results and everything came back clean.

however, the guy insists that his other girlfriend (HE'S AN *** and a big mistake on my part) went to the doctor today and was diagnosed with TRICH. What is this? Could I have this and not know, even after ALL OF THESE TESTS?

Trichomonas is a type of vaginal infection caused by a protozoan parasite called Trichomonas Vaginalis. It usually causes a discharge, an odor and pain when you go to the bathroom. They have to do a specific wet prep slide with specimen taken during a vaginal exam, and from the sounds of it, they didn't do this. Unless you complained of a discharge, and unless the doctor saw something, they wouldn't have had a reason to do it. On the other hand, trich has a specific odor to it, which is pretty unavoidable for the doctor to miss as a rule. You probably should return to the doctor and have the test done just to be on the safe side. But if you don't have a discharge or any symptoms, you may well not have it at all. Even if Mr. Wonderful did share, it's easy to take care of. Usually it's a one dose antibiotic, and all is well. And if you used a condom, you pretty much are covered for it. If you had unprotected intercourse, though, it's in your interest to have things checked, especially if you have a discharge. Just because the other girl has it, doesn't mean you do. Guys can carry it in the urethra, but as a rule, urinating pretty much wipes them out. Ladies, by virtue of different plumbing arrangements, don't have that advantage. Since he likely took a leak between the two of you ladies, you probably don't have much risk. But for peace of mind, just go see the gyn again. And needless to say- dump the chump.

Urinating wipes out most, if not all the trich in guys- why they don't suffer it most times. Risk for you is low, but better safe than sorry. Doesn't speak well of girl 2's cleanliness habits, though. Report It

Yes, it is very possible that you could have it especially if he is saying that his other girl friend has it. There are several stds that don't show symptoms for a while after getting it. A specific test needs to be done for it since you haven't been tested for it already. Also, the nurse who told you you would show symptoms after 2 days if you had herpes is completely WRONG! People can go years without ever having a herpes outbreak or any other sign that they have herpes! I'm glad you got tested for herpes beside what the nurse told you, but you need to go back and get tested for Trich since you haven't been tested for it and that is probably the std you are most likely to get under your circumstances. Good luck!

I would assume with the culture swab you had during the pelvic exam they would have found trich if they had it. Trichomonas by the way. Usually a swab has a smear done and all organisms are looked at and ID'd. that is only an assumption on my part. Find out for sure.

Also, be ready for jokes about being "tricky."
