My friend is a dialysis patient......?

My friend is a dialysis patient, and he is separated room when his on dialysis, coz he has hepatitis b virus, and he din't know if it's okey if there another patient on the same room which has hep.b patient like him but has HIV virus, with one nurse in that room.coz he is the first patient mixed with HIV patient. He need an advice thank you.

HIV is not transferable by air. The nurses should always wear gloves and/or wash hands between patients. Also, the machines must be disinfected before and after each patient. If these precautions are taken, I'm sure both patients will be fine, as will the nurses. Remember these dialysis units are carefully monitored and tested. They don't want anyone getting sick either. Especially not with insurance rates and legal actions being what they are today.

I am a dialysis nurse in Columbus, Ohio. It is necessary for Hepatitis B patients to be isolated due to the fact that it is highly contagious. HIV on the other hand is not nearly as easy to contract as Hep B so therefore we don't isolate those patients. So in general, HIV patients are usually out on "the floor" with everyone else (usually the nurses and techs don't even know if they have it) But everyone has to be tested for Hep B before they are admitted to the clinic so that they can be isolated if need be. The person with Hep B and HIV that's in with your friend is only in there because of the Hep B.
