In a period of waiting for HIV results, should i talk to my mom about the possibilities?

two years ago i tried to donate blood to American Red Cross. I recieved a letter a few months after saying that i tested false positive for HIV. ITs complicated but basically on the initial test i was positive and the confirmatory i was negative.... confusing eh?

So i didnt do much about it, out of fear for two years. two weeks ago i got tested and on friday the nurse (whom I know personally) called and was like honey we have the results but... ( mind you my results were three days late for some odd reason) i want your doctor to review them and she will call you personally with your results on monday so stay by the phone....

obviously it doesnt seem to good. Lately my mom has beeen very snappy with me and nit picky about how i act and what i do. its like today all i wanted to do with her was yell mom you dont know the half of what i am going through right now...

i just want to pull out hte letter american red cross sent to me and show her...help

If your mom is really out of touch with reality or an abusive person with too many of her own problems to give you support, then I'd say it would probably be more stressful for you to tell her than not to. But if that isn't the way things are, then BY ALL MEANS tell her. Not only would she want to know, but she can be there for you and provide support during this time of waiting as well as in your life in general! You sound kind of young and I think you could probably use someone older to talk to and help you through this time.

By the way, if your confirmatory test was negative, that's a negative result! If they had had any doubts at the time about your status, I am sure they would have pressured you very strongly to follow up, and you would have done it.

And if the nurse you called had been looking at a positive test result when she talked to you, she wouldn't have said "stay by the phone." She would have scheduled an appointment for you to go in on Monday. The doctor isn't going to give you a positive HIV result over the phone. NO WAY. So either they don't know yet, or it's negative.

DON'T WORRY. I still think you're fine. But talk to your mom!!

You know how your Mom will react better than anyone and I hope that you have a good relationship with her.My Mom is the only person in this world I feel that I truly can turn to and she may not be happy with me and what I have done in the past but at the end of the day when all is said and done I am still her baby even though I am 27 now I am still her little girl and she loves me and if you have that in a Mother TELL HER FOR GODS SAKE and let her help you, she will cry and she will be upset and hurt but in the end when all is said and done she LOVES YOU and she will help you, if you are positive dont let her find out when you get so bad off that you have tons of expensive meds and cant care for yourself anymore, let her know now so she can help you. Good luck and I pray that you are ok.

You have a very serious situation here. I wouldn't use it as an excuse, but maybe when things cool down and you can have a civil mature conversation you should talk to your mom about it. Throwing that kind of thing in someones face is not the rigth way to deal with things.

yes i would definitaly tell your mom. she will understand and help you through this!
