My dad is a victim of the HIV crisis in Las Vegas? |
40,000 are at risk of Hep B + C + HIV I cannot imagine a hospital or clinic administering medications from previously used syringes and vials.. That's an already won lawsuit. I work in a tiny hospital in the OR and we are so conscientious about sterility and the proper equipment and disposables it's not even funny. We have been functioning in the red for several years, but what we're doing to counteract that is recruiting new physicians, expanding certain services, not re-using cheap crap like syringes. Sucks, but my dad is positive for Hepatitis B. bc the nurses are stupid and want to save money and thinking that changing the neddle and keeping the vile would not make any one sick but that doesnt work. I am sorry for your father. I hope you guys are going to be okay. i think you could sue bc they are going to need a life long treatment It's currently a hepatitis crisis-not an HIV crisis. They are testing for all of the diseases as a precaution- but the disease of main concern is the hepatitis. There just isn't a good explaination for why these people reused syringes and vials- honestly. There are reasons why they may have done it, though. Part of it is profit driven, though not necessarily a means to drive up their own profit. The insurance companies and HMO's that determine what they will pay for and how much own a piece of it too. They want to get the most treatment they can at rock bottom prices, and can and do blacklist clinics and doctors who resist them. They don't ask how the clinics and docs limit the cost- but they will sure reward those who do, by listing them as prefered/appoved providers. As long as medicine is involved with the business folks, this is going to be a problem. Insurance companies and HMO's are businesses, with an eye on the bottom line - maximize income, minimize outgo, turning a profit for the investors. It's not to provide benefit to the folks paying the premiums any more than your car insurance company, or house insurance company is. I'm sorry you have to sweat out the test results, and there isn't a good excuse. It should not happen, ever, anywhere. Hopefully your dad's tests will all be negative. And yes, the doctors and nurses should be held accountable. But so should the vultures in the accounting departments toting up bottom lines on human lives. It is a Hepatitis crisis, not HIV. My parents were patients at the Shadow Lane clinic and both have tested negative to all the viruses. |
