After waiting a couple of years , I had a HIV test with my doctor. The results came back NON REACTIVE.? |
The HIV 1/0/2 ABS Index Value test came back with results of NON REACTIVE and the Ref. Range was also NON REACTIVE. The relative range was related to the negative cuttoff @ < 1.00. Does all of this medical jargon mean negative? Besides my wife, it has been quite some time since my last intercourse experience. (2 yrs or more) The nurse called and said I could quit worrying. I just thought I would double check.. yes your test was negative well quit worrying as it is right when tests got done you and your wife enjoy yourselves I got an HIV test done a few years ago and when I got the results back, the doctor said my HIV test was "non reactive"...I was taking a human sexuality class in college at the time and we had discussed HIV testing and we had talked about detectable levels of infection in the blood and how the infection levels can go so low with medication that they can be "non detectable." Anyway, when the doctor said my test was non reactive, I confused it with non detectable and about freaked out...he had to explain to me that "non reactive" meant negative. I had him tell me again, just to be sure. My point with the story is that why can't doctors just use simple terms (like saying the test is negative) when talking about things like that? People are already nervous enough about what the results will be that using medical jargon isn't going to help anything. But to answer your question, yes, nonreactive means negative. |
