Can urinalysis show HIV? |
I had a urinalysis test a month ago and it was normal. If i have HIV i contracted it up to 3 years ago. I am really worried. I am going to the nurse tomorrow and will ask her to do a blood test. Will that show a positive result if i have it? Thank you Standard urinalysis does not look for HIV, however, there are HIV tests available that use urine as specimen. HIV testing is currently only done through blood. The only thing they will find in urine are drugs, bladder infections, blood (bad thing), bacteria, etc. Hope for the best. HIV tests are done via blood sample, or sometimes by swabbing the cheek. I don't know about urine, unless it was hematuria * blood in the urine. The blood test will be accurate for sure if you contracted it 3 years ago. |
