HIV possible...? |
I am a student nurse and at clinicals was told to clean a patient and chnage the bed. The bed was soiled with stool and blood, so I wore a yellow gown and double gloves. I had a cat scratch in my arm, so thats why I wore the gown. I didnt wear a mask or a face shield, since bllod wouldnt splash me in the face....later the nurse informed me that the patient was HIV positive...now IM freakin out....What are the possibilities I probably got it from changeing the soiled bed with blood...? Thanks...am just so worried... relax.......the HIV virus dies seconds after it is out of its host. I cant image how bad you are feeling about that. Go get tested and document that has happened at work so you can sue the HOLY H e ll out of them if you are positive. I hope you feel better. |

You're walking a dangerous line with this idea. God Bless you for being so thoughtful, but you need to think of YOURSELF first. There are a lot of people out there who would use your help, b... As long as you haven't had any other possible exposures in the last 6months you are HIV negative. This is a common issue with many people, so you are not alone. Some people will test and re... Get a test ASAP. If you are going to be a nurse we need to stress everyone to be tested once a year. I understand your fear of testing, but you owe it to yourself to know your status.
