Hiv test 12.5 weeks after potential exposure.negative result?

told that i didn t need to be retested but i heard that in some cases in can take up to 6 months to deveolope hiv anitbodies to be detected on the test? Do you recomend retesting? What is the actual window period time frame. Have had a sore back, headache, redspots on body + uti and vaginal discharge for awhile now so im confused if the nurse said i am not hiv positive why am i feeling this way?

I got tested at 3, 6 and 12 months. All negative (whew).

Maybe you should get the symptoms checked out to rule other things though. So check with a doctor or low cost clinic. It could be something like a staph infection with a UTI and BV or yeastie infection.

Did you get checked for syphillis? One of the symptoms is rashes in the outside of the body.

You need to get tested 3, 6, 9 and 12 months out. Then I would get tested yearly for a couple years just to be 100% sure.

If you are not comfortable with the results, go get another test, there is definitely a chance of a false-negative.
Did they test you for other STDs? Did you have a hepatitis C and/or B test? Look into those along with another HIV test.

it can take up to 3 years before hiv antibodies show up so get retested every year for about 4 years. also schedule another test in a couple months.

well I bet it is very stressful but try not too worry too much until you know. BUt go get retested. If you feel uncomfortable then go.
